Vibe 1.8L Manual Trans w/Preferred Pkg and AC
by bluedevils on Wed Jun 24 08:57:05 PDT 2009
Looking for thoughts on this one. Are dealers generally more willing to give a good price on a manual transmission since most buyers want automatic, or do they price higher because there are fewer manual trans Vibes for stick-lovers to choose from? MSRP $18,630 Supplier price 17,915 or 18,059 depending which GM website you believe (neither is a very good price) Invoice per Edmunds 17,518 Local dealer is quoting me the following: $17,893 vehicle price $204 doc fee + taxes and plate transfer - $500 rebate - $500 dealer cash (is this the $500 'marketing support' mentioned on the Edmunds site? The GM site currently lists $1,000 cash back so I want to make sure there's not actually $1,500 on the table here, i.e. $1,000 cash back PLUS $500 marketing support) - $2,000 GM owner loyalty - $2,000 GM Card (can I really redeem $2k on the Vibe? My card is not one of the old 'unlimited' earnings ones; it says the redemption allowance is $1k on Vibe but I've got a $2k top-off bonus earnings and the GM Card website says "GM Card Bonus Earnings can be used above applicable GM Card program limits." TOTAL approx $13,100 excluding taxes and plate transfer. This quote looks to be about $375 above invoice, plus the $204 doc fee. I've read the recent deals on the thread but just wondering if I should expect that a deal at invoice price is reasonable/attainable? I would think so, but don't want to be too greedy. The dealer would need to trade for this vehicle, from what I can tell. Same dealer offered a price of approx $11,600 on a 1.8L manual transmission Vibe with Preferred Package but without AC. That sounded like a much better deal -- $1,500 less than the one with AC, and AC is only a $950 MSRP option.

Forget about the BBB. Most dealers may not even belong because they would have 100000 bad marks. I'm assuming you just want to ditch the LO Jack and 1900? AFTERMARKET? waranty? Tell the dealer you want a refund of your money and you will give him a glowing customer survey score. Otherwise you will be very unhappy Tell him if you don't get a survey you will request one. This is one of the major levers (if he is teterring on scores) you can have at this point. Aftermarket warranty may be already paid and you may need to contact the company for refund terms. Not a GM bumper to bumper warranty for $1900 but some warranty co? 3/36 and 100k mi powertrain already standard. A GM factory 7yr/100k mi b-b warranty extension service contract should have cost $400-700 bucks. Not to criticize you but why these forums are flooded with "I paid X how did I do?" is beyond me. Signing the docs then researching seems bass -ackwards but it is the rule not the exception here. Good luck --jjf I bought the 09Vibe during the employee discount for everyone day. Now I have learned that the discount varies from car to car or dealer.Approximatley 10 percent or less. Employee Discount below ? % percent Rebate 500 $ GM Reward 700 The sticker with option prefered package, air con, automatic was 18,640. The car price after the employee discount 17,744...Is that right? It would have been a great deal , but I signed up for LO jack 500+Vehicle Replacement Program 1,000 package. Extended Warranty 1900 Gap Insurance 700 I have no problem with the loan , I have a good FICA score.Loan at 5.35% After Sleeping on it and reading the fine prints,I discovered some negative points and so I first cancelled the GAP.No problem there but as soon as the bank paid the dealership. No one wants to help me get the cancellation process started with the all the cancellation which I have the right to have.I informed the third third party company and told them not to process and or cancell it. I showed up twice at the dealerrship to tell I dont want it.And rewite the contract. But they said you cant rewrite the contract becuase the bank paid them ,they knew that fact already but no even said,"Yes we can cancel it and then we will just refund the bank" One of the sales person even told me "are they going to refund you ?" referring to the third party company when they havent gotten the money nor the papers.I have been emailing the dealers finance department, left messages on the voice mail .Then I finally got hold of the finance person, then that person asked the manager first about it my request .Then told me that the papers will be ready the following day for me to complete. So I when went back , there was no paper, then the other finance person of the day with an condescending attitude told me to write the letter to cancel it.Now NO ,one not one even told me to write a letter for request for cancellation when I first wanted them those cancelled What the heck have I been doing for for the past 8 days..who is getting my emails ,my messages.. Also they told me I cant cancel the LO Jack when they havent even installed it yet...care to explain anyone. Its not over yet because I dont have any confirmation letter and in writting that the amount is going to be returned to the bank. I will update this post untill I see that money back in the bank. Or else i will report them to BBB and I will do everything in the book to get them a red mark

Vibe purchased in Oct 2007
by ytij on Tue Oct 16 17:28:08 PDT 2007
Just bought a 2007 Vibe (preferred, sun&sound, auto, side airbags, monotone, rear cargo cover) in the exact, hard-to-find color combo (wave/slate) I was looking for. Only downside was that it didn’t have abs. According to Edmunds, my 2000 Chevy Prizm (manual, 111.7K mi, fair cond) had a trade-in value of $1K. A friend of mine did the negotiating for me. MSRP was $21K and he offered $17K, which had to include any dealer/document fees, etc. To make the numbers work, the dealer gave me $2199 for my Prizm, I took the $1500 GM rebate and the dealer gave me another $500 rebate. Tax, ttl & reg were $1381, which the dealer took care of without any additional charge. I had a GM card rebate of $3500 (card holder since 1993) so my out-the-door cost was $14881.

Just yesterday I saw an almost-hidden black 2004 automatic w/ about 10K mi in the back of a dealer's (Tom Sparks) lot. I keep thinking I'll buy one of these (w/ manual trans.)now that they are a few years old and just have something more fun to drive than my 1994 Audi! Concerns about how bad the gas mileage is, and the strut problems: are they fixable or would it be an ongoing issue.
