Stetler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram
I was warned about this dealership, I had to learn for myself. I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, I made an appt for my Jeep on Monday, 8/3/09, 7:30 AM appt. I was supposed to have a state inspection, oil change, tire rotation, the air conditioner was not working and the back zipper was working rough, they were to take a look at it. I called at 2:00 pm to check on the status and they couldn't kind my Jeep, then asked if it had been towed in, after putting me on hold and bouncing me around to different "team" members, they found my Jeep but had not started working on it yet. Eventually at 4:40, I received a call from the service department, my Jeep did not pass inspection due to leaking seals in the back struts, the estimate to fix these seals was 450.00. I told them not to proceed. I asked about the air conditioner, they weren't sure what the problem was but they did fill it with freon, which was a tempory fix, I would need to return for futher testing. The back zipper was now completly broken and the back window lying in my back seat, I would need to purchase a 795.00 replacement top, again, I told them to not touch anythig futher. I asked what my bill amounted to and they were not sure, I told them to call me back, they never did. I picked up my car at 5:00 pm, they could not find my Jeep, or the keys, and then waited 40 min. then I was handed a 240.00 bill. I paid my bill then took my car to Firestone, who passed my inspection, and discovered a broken shock (which was never even discoverd by Stetler), the seals that were supposed to be replaced, actually cost 3.07 each and Stetler wanted 450.00 to change them and it was not even needed however, the broken shock would have been a problem if they would have caught it. So, to recap, I spent 240.00 for an oil change and the air conditioner that still does not work, I would say this is a fluke but they have done this to me many times before - needless to say, I am done with them. Over the years, I have gone in for service and asked the staff to keep the old parts for us when they replace them, when we go to pick up the Jeep, the parts have conveniently
been thrown away, in the dumpster and amazingly, the trash was also picked up, if this doesn't throw up a red flag I don't know what will.
I purchased my Jeep in Maryland at Adams Jeep, they had a good reputation here in York, I am now seeing Jeeps all over York from the Adams Jeep Dealer in Maryland, that should tell the folks in York, they are not doing something right. I am angry and out 240.00 that could have been used to actually "fix" something in the Jeep rather than pay for that uber-expensive oil change.
