I don’t have any positive or negative comments on the sales effort leading up to closing the sale. I knew exactly what I wanted and how much it would be before I chose Royal Moore Toyota. I chose them because they didn’t ask for a deposit for a Prius. Price was not much different across the Portland metro. Closing the sale took longer than necessary because they didn’t do any forms before I showed up to get the Prius. I suppose this is a tactic used to wear people down on bargaining. Totally unnecessary in this case as price was not much different across the Portland metro. I drive away Tuesday semi-satisfied. Made my appointment for Monday for the stain resister and exterior sealer application. Salesman Craig called Saturday and told me that my extra fob (proximity key) had arrived. We agreed that Monday would be perfect to program it while the Prius was in their shop. Showed up for the appointment Monday. That’s when things went down hill fast. The person that usually handles reception of vehicles was on vacation. Her stand-in was willing but ignorant; could not answer questions, didn’t have telephone numbers for anyone more knowledgeable. My rental car had to be found. I came back to pick up my Prius. Assistant manager Eric asked if I was being assisted. I said that I thought Craig might be doing something for me but I was not sure about that. He asked same question, I gave same answer. Eric asked me if I wanted to surrender the rental car. Not ‘til I have my Prius, said I. Eric wandered off. Another employee asked the same question, got my answer; he wandered off. Craig showed up and connected me to my Prius. Craig introduced me to the manager. Manager heard my story and gave me the fish eye. I drove off. At home I remembered the extra key fob. Craig said it was in Parts Department. I asked if it had been programmed. The reply was, “No, you didn’t make a Service appointment. I’m in Sales.” That was his “reason” for not making a SERVICE appointment to program the part that he had ordered for me. Draw your own conclusions regarding my level of satisfaction with Royal Moore Toyota.
