Worst buying experience ever.

by writercrystal on 08/16/2018

If you're considering buying a vehicle here – BUYER BEWARE. Bring a certified mechanic with you to inspect the vehicle before you buy, or better yet just go to a different dealership. If you want to lose $15,000 dollars, ignore this review. In summer of last year, I went to Kernersville Dodge to look for used heavy-duty trucks. Kernersville is known as the #1 heavy-duty truck dealer in the state, so I figured they would know what they were doing. This was my first heavy-duty truck & diesel. I told my salesperson this. We settled on a Chevrolet 3500 SRW. The truck ran rough (not enough to raise alarms, but enough that I commented on it) during the test drive & I was told that was normal. Having never driven a diesel, I believed him. Everything cursory that I knew to look at seemed OK. One of my main concerns is that I'm short & overweight, so getting into the truck would be hard day after day. The sales person assured me that I could take off the current running boards & get electric ones that would extend lower than the current ones. I went home that day thinking I'd gotten a good deal on a great truck. Immediately, I had a high-end alarm system, stereo system, new speakers (some of the originals were blown), & remote start installed. This was going to be my daily driver for a while, & I wanted it to be nice. I took the truck the next month to my mechanic because of a check engine light & learned that this truck wasn't such a good deal. It had broken motor mounts, all the shocks were broken (bad lift kit install), there was NO spare tire, rim, or wench, my tires were leaking (2), & glow plugs were bad. I'd been sold a truck that was unsafe. The mechanic also told me the running boards & the brush guard were an obvious (to an experienced eye) home job (welded improperly & almost completely to the frame) & they would be very difficult to remove & that most likely, the truck was used on construction sites. A local welding shop & two off road shops refused to remove the running boards since it could have damaged the frame. There was a very large dent in the front of the truck bed. Due to my shortness, I couldn't see it when I bought the truck. I was upset. I called Kernersville Dodge to see if they would reimburse me for the issues or allow me to trade it in & purchase something else (45 days after purchase). Cue three weeks of the runaround. They also removed my running boards WITHOUT my permission & then told me they couldn't reattach them because they couldn't install electric boards on my model & year. They tried to charge me for the new running boards. We went back & forth trying to come up with something we could all be happy with (they tried to tell me my truck had depreciated $12,000 in the 2 months since I had bought it, so the trade in value was a joke). They stated their service department had gone over the truck before purchase. I don't believe that & two mechanics agree with me. I really tried to work with them. Management was rude, flat-out didn't care, & lived up to the "sleazy car salesman" stereotype. I was passed from person to person having to retell my story each time; you could tell each person didn't care AT ALL or want to deal with me. It took days or weeks for them to return calls. They stated they would reimburse me for the spare tire, but never sent the check & wouldn't return phone calls. I actually ended up with a broken foot due to their direct actions with the running boards - the new running boards were sloped downwards, & I fell. Eight months later, I had put more than $15,000 into the truck OVER the loan amount. The final straw was a $1500 DEF sensor. By the time I sold it, the truck had: an new suspension system, the break system had been repaired or replaced, axle work was done, the head/ tail lights were replaced at least once, a wiring short was fixed, all fluids flushed, radiator work done, & other issues had been fixed.

Very Dishonest!

by PABOBBYS on 04/06/2017

Very dishonest!!! Drove 3 hours to purchase 06 wrangler. Expressed my concern this vehicle was 100% checked out and all was working per description of add. I was assured vehicle was clean and ready to go. When I arrived the jeep was not clean and had mud underneath. I guess it was parked in a remote lot. Upon inspection I noticed an oil leak, broken taillight, missing center cap on one wheel. After test drive salesman took the jeep to service department to look at leak. After 1.5 hours he said it was the oil plug leaking. Seemed very strange that that would take an hour and a half to address this problem. They took a center cap from another jeep on the lot. Promised to send the tail light in the mail. I had to contact several times to see if new taillight lens was ordered. Finally yesterday it showed up. I can't believe that they ordered a used lens from EBay and sent it to me. Really? This huge dealership that claims they sell 650 cars a month sends me a used part off of eBay? Unbelievable! The jeep still has the oil leak and now A/C compressor will no longer kick on .It was working at time of test drive. Most disturbing is the gas smell that I noticed after parking it in my garage overnight. I contacted dealership and they said the vehicle passed inspection. How can that happen with a gas leak and a broken tail light lens? They said.. As-Is ...tough luck. Can you imagine that I drive home 3 hours with a gas leak! I would definitely not recommend buying a car from Kernersville Dodge. All they care about is the $599 document fee on every car they sell. They do not care about customer satisfaction and sell cars that have issues. Offered send me $300 and remove my review. This information needs to be documented so others do not go through the experience I had….. Buyer beware!

best dealer in 1000 mile radius -

by 6speeddiesel on 11/01/2016

2016 Ram 2500 diesel Tradesman Kernersville dodge & Hanover shipping ([phone contact removed] Shannon you are the best) I don't believe any one can do any better. All my local dealers were rude and made me feel like I did something wrong when I waked in - not Kernersville - they worked with me always professional and very helpful knowing I was 1000 miles away buying sight unseen and always understanding of that. More than that they were pleasant and kind, unlike local dealers. I went to local dealers with a good truck to trade in - almost 1/2 of new truck cost to put down and was treated [non-permissible content removed] . Kernersville - before they knew what I was putting down until I bought the truck never treated me different - always, always with the highest respect. After I finished the paper work and sent it back I was driving my truck in less than 3 days including shipping it to me---WOW ! Thank you Shannon from Hanover shipping & Kernersville. After all the extras Kernersville gave me on the truck - for free - no hidden #'s - free, $500 towards shipping & $1000 rebate that came in from Ram while I was buying that they told me about, I would not have known if they did not tell me I saved over $6000 compared to local dealers. I love my truck - thank you Kernersville.

I spotted a car on the internet and called the dealership to get more information the condition of the car. I also made an offer based on the condition when I arrived. The deal went thru at no time and I was pleased with the time it took to wrap things up. I was from out of town and it meant a lot to me to saving time due to the drive back. Thanks guys I love my new tow vehicle for my RV

Internet Purchase, Went Smooth

by HTrucker on 02/12/2016

No dickering price, got a sight unseen value of trade with my honest answering of questions they had. Got to NC, trade was done and drove home in a few hours. Would have been good advertising for them if they gave me a nice RAM ball cap or key chain. Oh well, I would buy again from them.

Happy, again, with our salesman!

by Macemore on 02/03/2016

My husband and I bought a Suburban from Kernersville Chrysler Dodge Jeep 2 years ago. Julius Wittenberg helped us...he was wonderful! This past Saturday we decided to down-size and asked for Julius. He is semi-retired so wasn't there that evening. We got just as excellent help from Mac Mcclough! Neither of them ever pressured us. They were friendly, helpful, and patient. Kernersville also has the best prices around. We will continue to buy our vehicles from here.

Best dealership to buy a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep

by Klmjr84 on 10/06/2015

After being hit by a deer in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I did not like the way the repairs looked. Spoke with Thomas Badger in sales, they gave me exactly what I wanted for my trade and put me in a much higher trim level Grand Cherokee and reduced my payment by $140 per month. The experience was great and I would highly recommend Thomas Badger to assist you with the purchase of your next Chrysler Dodge or Jeep. Kevin M. Kernersville NC

No pressure. No upsell

by fishydude on 08/07/2015

The salesman let me take my time, by myself looking over the car. I knew what I wanted, and he didn't try to steer me to a more expensive model. This was among the few times I did not feel the need to take an immediate shower after getting home from a car purchase.

RUN AWAY from Kernersville Dodge

by rover17 on 07/18/2015

DON"T BUY A USED VEHICLE FROM KERNERSVILLE DODGE!!!!!!!!!! It will potentially need major repairs. Mine needed a new transfer case and they knew it but didn't identify it during the sale. They knew it because they had replaced the output seal before they sold it, yet didn't fill the transfer case with fluid after fixing it, thus BAD transfer case. The front axle u-joints also needed replacing (cost $200 doing it myself). The transfer case will cost about $2000. I noticed the transfer case had no fluid in it when I changed the fluid one week after I purchased the vehicle (I change all fluids in every vehicle I buy to ensure I know that I have new oil and when it was changed, I never trust the dealership for that). I then contacted Kernersville Dodge and told them that the transfer case had no fluid in it and they said to bring it in and they would inspect it but they would not cover all the cost because it was a used vehicle. I took it in and they told me that it needed a new transfer case and they would cover the labor to put in a new one. It was at this time, NOT AT TIME OF SALE, that they told me the story of how much money they put into the vehicle before they put it on the lot for sale and they told me that they replaced the output seal (which fesses up to "We knew the transfer case was bad"). BOTTOM LINE......RUUUUUN AWAY!!! DO NOT BUY USED FROM KERNERSVILLLE DODGE!!! THEY DON"T CARE ONCE YOU DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT, AND THEY WON"T TELL YOU THE KNOWN ISSUES OR WORK THEY DID ON IT THAT MIGHT TELL YOU POSSIBLE PROBLEMS! The salesman told me that they only look for SAFETY issues before they resale it i.e. brakes, lights. BEWARE OF USED VEHICLES FROM KERNERSVILLLE DODGE!! They are not the only place to buy from.

07 Dodge Dakota

by cameraman3 on 07/18/2015

I recently purchased a 2007 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab Truck. I had been looking for a truck for several months when I found one listed at Kernersville Chrysler Dodge. I called and talked to Paul, one of their internet salesmen and made arrangements to come see the truck the next day. We drove 2 1/2 hours to see and test drive this truck. When we got there I met with Paul and Nick. They brought the truck around and we took it for a test drive. Nick actually handle everything from this point on and was very helpful. Not being from the area he gave me a route that let me drive highway speeds and city streets. I decided to purchase the truck. While Nick handle the paper work the truck was prepped for delivery. We were in and out in an hour and a half. Everyone was very kind and we didn't feel rushed. The only down side was the detailing left a lot to be desired. They washed it but not much beyond that was done. I spent a couple hours the next day giving it a good cleaning. Thanks to Nick for making this a good buying experience..

Great Dealer, Great Service, Great Staff!

by garyp7 on 05/14/2015

Bought a used 2013 Ford Escape from Kernersville Dodge. What a super dealer. Starting on the internet, and finishing in the showroom, the deal couldn't have been much smoother. Only and hour and we were driving off the lot. Charlie, our sales guy, was super to work with. He and the whole staff treated us like family. Erica, the internet sales rep. was helpful, pleasant, and personable. She took care of our loan approval quickly and got us a really good deal. Don, the finance manager, was helpful, and easy to deal with. He was attentive to all questions and took the time to give us informative answers. Overall the staff at this dealership go out of their way to offer the best customer service possible.

Bait and Switch

by holly34 on 05/07/2015

This dealership advertises cars online for a cheaper than typical price, then when you get to the dealership they claim it just sold at auction that very morning. I spoke with the salesman 7pm the night before I made the trip over where he assured me it was there and he would have it ready for me for our appointment. I arrived to be told by a different salesman that Paul (the salesman I spoke with the night before) wanted me to let you know he was sorry but the car sold at auction this morning. Why would they sell a car at auction that had an appointment with a retail customer in just a couple of hours? Of course they had another car just like it for $3,000.00 more that they would be happy to show me! Do not make the drive for a "good" deal there it is a scam.

Beware, they may go back on their internet price!

by tncb1480 on 01/20/2015

We looked at a 2006 Ford Expedition that did not look right due to rust on its roof. Salesman offered us a 2011 Expedition at their internet price that was a little over our price range, but we checked on it anyway. After a whole day inspecting the vehicle and having it checked out by a mechanic, who found problems with the brakes and battery, we returned and asked what could be done about these. To our surprise, he informed us that they could not sell us the vehicle because someone listed it incorrectly on the internet and that they would lose $2800 if they sold it at the internet price. How greedy and dishonorable! But not only did they keep blaming someone else for the mistake, the manager on duty, Michael Moore, had the audicity to state that this was a double-edge sword, because we were taking advantage of the situation! He said we should not profit from someone else's mistake. How dare he insinuate that we were trying to profit! We thought it was a fair price because we were told that they research a 500 mile radius, and then make sure their price is the lowest. If you cannot trust the prices on their website, what can you trust! They should honor their posted prices! Stay away from this dealer!

One, two, three, four. Not happy.

by RussD74 on 09/19/2014

I saw a used low mileage Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with lift kit and some upgrades listed online that I was interested in. It took the better part of a day to get the asking price ($39,880) from the dealer since the online price was not listed and took until the next day and two receptionists later to get the height of it since I was concerned about it fitting in my garage. The afternoon of the second day I saw the online price of $35,485 finally listed (better price!), scheduled a test drive, and drove 1.5 hours to the dealer. A very nice salesman met me and checked the online price, let me test drive it, and also test drive a new stock version of the Jeep. I did a second test drive and he later started the sales document and valuation of my trade. When he asked a CSM about the warranty (due to the aftermarket upgrade) after some time the CSM finally came over with "bad news" as he put it. He said the $35,485 did not include an extra $6,000 for the lift conversion that the salesman did not realize the dealer had even done in house. The CSM blamed it on someone for entering the price incorrectly. I told them I was not interested in paying over $41,000 since I really wasn't necessarily determined to get a lifted one anyway. The salesman did some more checking to verify with others at the dealership and I could tell he was unhappy losing a sale over a falsely advertised price. He apologized and said he didn't ever want to waste anyone'’s time, which I appreciated him saying. Between his 5 stars for customer service and the dealerships one star it averages out to 2.5 for my experience. Now that I'm back home in the evening I see it listed online for $39,285, yet a fourth price. So for those of you counting, that's one car, two days, three hours of driving, and four prices.

Unethical Company

by gartlyw on 12/08/2013

Kernersville Dodge - DON'T BUY HERE!!!! I had a 2006 Raider truck that I traded for a 2000 Cadillac Deville. My kids got big and I needed something to get them in and out of. The Cadillac looked good and we agreed to a straight up trade. I told them there was some shaking and would need the tires balanced to ensure that was the problem. The dealership wanted to charge me $40.00 to balance the tires. Should of left right here but the nightmare continues. The tires were balanced and the shaking went away. I bought the car with what I thought was a full tank of gas. When I left dealership on my way home the car cut out and the check engine light came on. To say the least I was boiling hot. Im stuck in the middle of the street with cars coming off the freeway. I called the dealership and they said well just try and start it in 5 minutes and if it doesn't start we will send someone to get you. Once I got my temper under control I said to my wife the gas gauge isn't full. I said there is a gas station about a quarter mile away Ill go buy a gas can and bring some gas back. I also most got hit trying to cross the busy intersection. Paid 15.00 for a gas can and put two gallons of gas in the car. When putting gas into the car a tractor trailer almost hit me and the car coming off the freeway. I got the gas into the car and let the dealership know not to send someone. I got the car home and tried to figure out what was wrong. The next day I drove the car and the check engine light came on. What a mess now something else is wrong with this car. I went to autozone and had them print out the codes for me. Codes said something was wrong with the TCC and a engine misfire. I googled the codes and it the TCC is an expensive repair. I went to the dealership and told the manager that the car had issues and if they would take the car back. Manager says he would need to look the car over and see what they could do. I agreed and they gave me a car to drive. Two days went by and nobody called so I decided to check in. The service center had no idea what I was talking about and said they would call me back. Service called back and said they replaced something in the fuel line and now the gas gauge would work. They also said the check engine lights were a cause of the broken gas gauge. I said I want to speak with the manager. I asked that he take the car back and he said no gas gauge works. I asked my wife to go get the car. They couldn't find the car and tried to give her another car that was in the service center. They did find the car and used all the gas I put in the tank. My wife brought the car home and the next day I drove car to work. The car just shuts off - electric everything. Almost got rear ended. I was at work and sent an email of the situation. I did get a call back from the receptionist there to let me know she got my email and that a manager would call me. Its been two days no call. This place sells everything as is. So legally they will just sell you crap and stand behind that statement. Ethically - well they have no ethics. I asked that they take the car back give me what I traded and I would pick another car. I was going to drive this car back home for the holiday but how can I its a death trap. Hope I can save someone else from dealing with these people.

Was Sold Junk

by wrogers01 on 08/16/2013

I purchased a 06 Jeep Commander from Kernersville Dodge in Nov 2012. First I was rushed thru the paperwork and was never told that I could buy a warranty on my vehicle. After going roughly 25 miles the check engine light came on. Took it back up there but the light had went off and they told me there was nothing that they would do. Less than 1 month later, the gear selection lights all lite up and the check engine light came on. The vehicle went into a "limp mode". My wife took it back and they took 2 hours and told her the only issue was that it needed to have all of its shift point re-flashed (red flag should have been raised due to the system forgetting its shift points) and we were told if it happens again to bring it back. Fast forward 9 months and it happened again, except this time it started shifting from drive to park on the highway. In the process it destroyed the front differential. When I contacted the dealer they priced me a tow and diagnostic test 30 to 40 dollars more than another Dodge dealer. After having the other Dodge dealer look at my vehicle they told me that the damage was do to a faulty shift module and that it should not have be re-flashed but replaced and that the damage was roughly $4000 dollars to fix. After talking with Kernersville Dodge and being told by JP that they would try and get me a discount, I had to call them back and then I was told that they would not help me. The other Dodge dealer (M&L Motors of Lexington, NC) has been very helpful and has agreed to work with me up to the point of helping me get rid of this junk pile and finding me something better. You would have thought the Kernersville Dodge would have tried to work with me to at least find another SUV and to get me out of this junk pile they sold me.

I recently bought a used 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee from here at a great price and couldn't have asked for better service or a more pleasant experience. Everyone was very polite and extremely helpful and able to answer all of my questions. I've had my Jeep for about six months now and am still loving it! I'd definitely recommend going to these guys.

The price seemed too good to be true...but it was. Salesman support not so much. He didn't tell me anything about it. Nothing about the features, specs, warranty..nothing. He didn't show me how to use anything and as I was getting in to drive away he said "oh, I think you get free oil changes". I will buy again but only because of the price.
