Final Quote - Did Not Buy

Just negotiated a 2008 Pathfinder LE V6 with Nav and DVD. MSRP is $43,315, negotiated $32,620 plus tax, title, and plate AFTER INCENTIVES. This was a pretty long negotiation, and was the lowest price in my area. Pretty sure that I found the floor price on this one, chose not to buy because don't really need a car until next year and was targeting 30% off MSRP to buy early.

Several problems with your analysis. First, trade-in is not the value of a car as we all know you can't typically buy a car at trade in price. Second, you "bought" the first year depreciation and mileage for the spread between purchase price and year 1 value. Presumably that had some value, otherwise EVERYONE would buy used cars and that clearly is not true. BTW - I ran this myself using private party value and excellent condition, and it came back worth $23,600. So that kind of puts an end to that conversation.

I'm in Western PA and wondering if anyone has seen this 40% deal within reasonable driving distance (inside 4 hours) from Pittsburgh. If so, please post!!!

Also...I may be wrong about this, but isn't gap insurance provided as part of Nissan leases? I could swear I heard this somewhere, but to be honest, I can't remember where... (I personally still don't put money down on a lease, but I think with the gap protection, it's less of a concern, right?) Congrats on the Murano - we're loving ours (4 days old now ;-).

Thanks Marco. The second one's a fully loaded Murano SL! Not quite the same mileage, but a bigger storage area ;-) (The trunk on the NAH is a little tight for weekend trips...) We're thrilled with both and my wife (not being an ipod owner) is having fun loading all her favorite CDs onto the car's hard drive. It's the little things...

Yup - they're getting much harder to find at any sort of discount if you live in places where they're not sold. I decided to take the hit because, well, I wanted one... perhaps I could have argued more a bit on price... but basically, the few dealers that have them anywhere near me (a) aren't trading them to other dealers and (b) aren't much in the mood to negotiate because they're flying out the doors. My timing wasn't the best -- should have bought a couple of months ago, when people were getting great deals. Alas... I'm happy with the car, though (except for a minor EV mode difficulty)... So much so that we got a second Nissan for my wife this weekend. Never had a Nissan before, but now we're a 2-Nissan family! Go figure.
