Re: 2007 SL AWD lease question [dwb959]
by dwws on Mon Oct 15 10:21:11 PDT 2007
Hi dwb959 & EBM525: I am in Freehold NJ trying to help my sister lease a 2007. The dealer here is offering this deal; MSRP: $36,900 SELLING PRICE: 33,558.11 MILES PER YEAR: 12,000 TERM: 39 M0NTHS DOWN PAYMENT: $4,500 (THAT SEEMS OUTRAGEOUS TO ME) RESIDUAL: $18,081 MONEY FACTOR: .000330 Now, to the cost they are adding: INCEPTION FEES: $1968.09 ASSIGNMENT FEE: $595 DOWN PAYMENT TAX: $198.35 PAY-OFF OF TRADES FEE: $895 (MY SISTER DOESN'T ***HAVE*** A TRADE-IN!!!) After all this nonsense they are stating the total Cap Cost as$32,214.55 MONTHLY PAYMENT $379 Now, just on the surface of it, it seems that my sister is getting the same deal as you guys are, but she is paying $2000 more for it. Also, what is an :Assignmet Fee" and what is included in these "Inception Costs" and does $1968.09 seem reasonable? Where are you guys located? We are in NJ and I need to find her a no-nonsense dealer who will give her a good price. Please help. Thanks, David
Quest Price

In Jan bought the '04 SL w/DVD and Upgraded SL package (cloth) from Freehold Nissan. We paid Invoice but they got me out of an Infiniti QX4 lease with 13 payments left on the lease. I paid nothing on the lease ($23,500) plus got to save $1,200 on sales tax by trading in the lease. I would say they worked real well - they have also been right behind me in getting all my problems fixed, including arranging a loaner van for all the time we were in shop. I did not have the extended warranty

Off the lot

I guess I was lucky. They had the exact model Z I was looking for on the lot of a sort-of local dealer, DCH Freehold Nissan, in Freehold, NJ. I got my MY 2004 Super Black 6 speed Touring coupe, with all options, including Navigation on the last day of November 2003. I wound up paying about $2500 off of MSRP. They had originally quoted me just under invoice in an email from their Internet manager. They claimed it was an error, and they don't sell the car for under invoice, as there were no incentives on it. Well, I was more than a little peeved about them not honoring their original quote, which got me down to their dealership in the first place, but overall I feel like I still got a pretty good deal on the car. By the way, I have about 4300 miles on the car and so far (knock on wood) the tires are not exhibiting any "feathering," or uneven wear, but I do have a few tiny chips in the paint. I really only notice them when I'm washing or waxing the car. Otherwise, it's an awesome car!
Ordered a Silver Mist SL
by actd on Mon Dec 15 07:58:51 PST 2003
Paid invoice price for an SL with seat package, SL upgrade, floor mats, microfilter, cargo cover, and splash guards for a total of $26,261. Also bought a 84-month/100K Gold Preferred extended warranty with $50 deductible for $1,363. There was a documentary fee of $95, and registration fee of $104. We didn't really want the cargo cover and splash guards but the sales manager said all Quests come with them. I didn't know how true was that but since they were at invoice prices so I didn't argue any further. The sales guy didn't sit in the van when we did the test drive. When we came back to the show room, however, he brought us to the sales manager and left. The manager immediately offered us $1,500 off MSRP even before I opened my mouth! I told him I'd buy an extended warranty if I can get it at the dealer's invoice. He responded that he needed to talk to his boss before making the offer. Five minutes later he came back with a binder showing different warranty packages from Nissan. He said he would sell me the van at invoice and any warranty service $100 below dealer's cost. By the way, I noticed there was only roughly $100 difference between the Security+ Gold and the Gold Preferred warranty as showing on the dealer's cost chart. Needless to say we picked the Gold Preferred for the 24-hour road side assistance feature. We accepted his offer but have to wait for a week until he locates a silver mist Quest for us. I specifically asked him to put in writing that deposit will be refunded if vehicle is not delivered by the end of the week. The whole haggling process only took about 30 minutes before we had a deal. I had a feeling if we spent more time haggling, we might be able to knock down the price even further by a couple of hundred dollars. From the buying experience, I strongly believe now is the best time of the year to buy regardless which dealer you go. The one we went was DCH Freehold Nissan in central NJ. One thing I have to mention is when I test drove the vehicle, I noticed the engine produced quite a bit noise. Not sure if this is related to the cold weather or just this particular van. I remembered when I test drove another SL near end of the summer it was much quieter. Any suggestions?
2004 SL AWD w/Touring in NJ
by trblmkr_nj on Tue Nov 04 07:55:48 PST 2003
We just got SL AWD w/Touring, Floor Mats, Cargo Protector, and Mud Guards (MSRP 34,960.00) for 32,307 + tags, reg fees and taxes at 34,454 out of the door. I used fax blast with little response (5 out of 18 or so). prices were between 32,307 and 32,700. The dealer at Somerset offered 32,307. I requested buyer's order, and got late same day. Called next morning (11/1) and was told that car is gone (go figure!). Took their buyer's order to DCH Freehold and show it to them (DCH reply on fax was 32,700). They matched it (32,307), not without trying to get another $100 first. Insurance with AIG, no points, used for pleasure only with 100K/300K and 100/comp and 500/coll is 450/6 months.
