Great Deal On My 2008 Rogue SL AWD
by renogeorge on Thu May 08 19:16:10 PDT 2008
I got a great deal last Friday on my 2008 SL AWD Rogue, with moonroof, floor mats, and more at Pohanka Nissan in Fredericksburg, VA. . I dealt with them by email first and after getting the figures went there from Maryland (thru AAA Buying Service which recommended Pohanka) and the deal and figures were exactly the same as in the email. They were very nice, professional and did everything they could to make me happy. What a great place to deal with and what a great car. I love my Rogue. They also gave me the most $ for my trade in. I tried all of the Nissan dealers in the Baltimore, MD and Hanover, Pa area, but this dealer was the best. I have 400 miles on it so far and I just filled up the gas tank and I computed 25 mpg.
Sentra 2.0S CVT

I had a good experience through DarCars in Maryland. I searched their inventory, and they clearly list MSRP and options. Click a button, supply your name/email, and it generates an automatic response with a price that includes "all applicable rebates." They clearly state that their price does include freight but excludes tax, tags, and a $100 processing fee. I liked a Sonoma Sunset 2.0S CVT with side moldings, floor/trunk mats, rear spoiler and splash guards. MSRP: 18070 Invoice: 16796 Their e-price: 14996. I live in PA and the dealership was about an 90 minutes away in MD, so I called to confirm availability and price. I asked for an OTD price. The e-price included Nissan's 1500 rebate, of course, and the salesman indicated over the phone a 16099 OTD price for me with a new PA license. (I.e., I had no trade.) I had a number of other quotes for quite a bit more, and from the Edmunds TMV guide, I knew that this was a more than fair price, so I agreed to it pending a satisfactory test drive. There apparently was some confusion on their part re: the PA license, and salesman said that they should have charged about 300 more, but they would certainly honor the price quoted me over the phone. After going through all the stuff with the salesman, I was sent to the finance guy, and now the OTD price is only 15727. I pointed out that I had indeed agreed to 16099, but the finance guy basically said his numbers were his numbers! So, basically I got the car for 16175 less the rebate >> 14675. Add tags and tax I was OTD at 15727. I'm happy! :)

If you get that deal, please come back and post. I highly doubt you will however as that number is not a number that you would see on a total. I've had TWO dealers write me slips with prices saying OTD with prices. When I inquired about fees etc - they of course failed to mention that they do not quote prices with the tax, title etc as they are always added at the end to every car. All dealers do it in my area. So beware. I, located in Pittsburgh, PA, am having a hard time believing some of the prices posted on here. In fact, I started calling different states. WV, OH, NY, NJ, MD, NC, SC, IL for pricing. I've gotten prices from dealers in all of those states except SC hasn't gotten back to me yet. The best I've done is $500 under invoice for a 2.5 SL. BUT they all have much higher doc fees than PA which is $55. I've dealt with some real assholes recently in other states. I've had so many tell me that I am wasting their time after initially the salesperson agreeing to a below invoice price. Then their manager talks to me to work the deal and tells me I'm wasting their time and mine. None of them believe the $200 under invoice deal I currently have on the table.

Gregg (greggblue), I just started leasing a LOADED 2009 Murano LE AWD with EVERY option - moonroof, navigation, mats, cross rails, cargo protector, tire flaps, etc. We were really upset that you could not get a DVD player and the navigation system or moonroof. Tried to config online - but selecting overhead DVD greys out BOTH moon (makes sense) and navigation (does not make sense!). The dealer said it had something to do with the wiring. So we added the OEM DVD Players (INVISION) to the back of each headrest. Looks even BETTER to be honest than the factory option. So we literally have EVERYTHING in this car. (DVD NOTE: The DVD players were installed by the dealer and look amazing. Nissan considers INVISION DVD to be a NISSAN "dealer port" option. Only the dealer offers this option and they match the factory specs. INVISION items can ONLY be ordered and installed through the dealership. 3rd party companies and consumers CANNOT buy them and do it yourself. For this reason they are not considered aftermarket and convered under the NISSAN manufacturer warranty as well.) We got the LE with the Super Black Exterior with Beige Leather Interior. Looks great in this combination. Dark interior looked good in old model - but we thought beige interior looks better in 09s. Original Sticker was $40,511.00 and DVD Player was $1500.00. Cap Cost Came to $38,200.00. All this in a 42 Month Lease with 12K miles annually - $5,529 down - out of pocket (first payment - the 529-, taxes, titles, tags, etc.) and a Monthly payment of $529.00 I believe the buyout at the end of the lease is $19K and change. For a car with this many options - I believe we got a great deal. I know the DVD Players in the Headrest option was like $1500. I live in Virginia and shopped around at 6 dealers - the best we were offered in VA was $6200 down and $570 a month for the same lease - I took this deal back to the dealer where we originally leased our 04 Murano - Herb Gordon Nissan in MD and they beat it - no games and no hassle - did everything over the phone. I just showed up to pick up my car!! They gave me the model customer experience - twice! They have amazing customer service. I would obivously deal with them again in a hearbeat. By the way - I have also test driven the Acura, Lexus and Infiniti this year. Thought maybe it was time to leave Nissan. My parents have the lexus and i drove it in Florida for two solid weeks prior to test driving the 09 Murano. I can honestly say - money aside - I felt the 09 Murano drove and felt better than ALL OF THEM. Maybe a personal preference. But even if cost was not a factor - I felt the 09 Murano was the best one. It is a truly amazing car. Just did a road trip up to NYC recently and this car was perfect. The bluetooth was awesome for answering calls with no effort, ipod connecter was very cool for listening to our library of tunes and controlling it through the vehicle, the traffic navigation helped us avoid some major tie ups on the beltway, the dvd players were great for keeping the little happy with dora the explorer, the duel moonroofs were great for taking in the views in NYC and overall the roomy seats and great handling made for a wonderful trip!! I HIGHLY recommend this car.
Re: Nissan of Chantilly [fmayberry]
by poohsavybear on Mon Mar 31 17:57:02 PDT 2008
fmayberry - I don't know about them being hungry. What I do know is that the ownership of the dealership just changed over within the last week/week and a half. Apparently under the old ownership (Victory Nissan - they also have stores in the DC/VA Beach area) the store wasn't performing up to par not only in sales but in customer service. Nissan actually booted them and asked Hall (reputable Hall Nissan in Hampton Roads - VA Beach, Newport News, Chesapeake, etc. of 35 years) to take over and clean house. Hall had sold his stores in Hampton Roads to Herb Gordon/Mile One (the are also in the DC area). Hall is basically going to work his business process magic he did in Hampton Roads to Nissan of Chantilly and is opening other dealerships in the DC area. He brought one of his GM's from another store who is ranked like #3 within Nissan and that GM has brought much of his staff, etc. which included the salesman and Sales Manager that I worked with. So given the change over has just occurred, I'm sure they are still working out all the kinks/processes, etc. With over a dozen Nissan dealers in the DC/Baltimore metro area - you can find a deal especially at the end of the month touting I can buy the Murano at X dealer for $600 under invoice. Sheehy Annapolis said they were selling their Muranos for $1000 over invoice and if I could get it for $600 under I should go there - which I did. If you walk into the dealership - you should be an informed buyer. A lot of the dealers' online websites give you their internet price so you know what they will sell the car for with room in their holdback. I know that Chantilly's processing fee was high and in my post I recommend you negotiate lowering that into the price of the car especially when MD dealers charge $99. Their contracts are already preprinted with the processing fee but if it's taken into account in the price then it's the same thing. When we made the deal online for the SL - it was for $600 under invoice and matching the $99 processing fee for buying in MD. Given the SL had gotten sold, I was offered an excellent deal on the LE that we would've been stupid to walk away from. Yes it was the end of the month but I was well educated and the Sales Manager was fully aware of it. I didn't "need" to buy the car so I didn't have a problem to walk if I wasn't happy with the deal. But you are right - there are enough dealers in the DC area that are offering the car at/under invoice that others are going to have to follow suit - at least for those of us that are smart/educated by going online and doing research, etc. I'm giving my experience in return as a thanks from learning from everyone else before I conducted my sale. I'm sure doing it at the end of Nissan's 50th anniversary sale also helped. When we bought our 07 Maxima - our best quote was from Passport Alexandria - the Sales Manager told me to get my quotes and he would be the lowest one by $500 - and he did....my contract showed the low price listed as the rebate yet I was still able to use the special APR financing - stipulations usually say one or the other - not both. The dealers can work their magic - there are incentives, etc to the dealer that we don't see other than the holdback which is still just an estimate at 2.75% of MSRP. We bought the Maxima at the end of Nov 2006. One last piece of advice - it's not necessarily how much the dealer makes per car, it's overall sales as well as overall number of cars sold. Based on how the dealership has done for the month, the GM or Sales Manager will have to let some cars go just to meet the "number of cars sold" for the month. Goodluck to all - I can't believe how luxurious our new Murano is!!! :o)
2009 Murano LE - Nissan of Chantilly, VA in DC Area
by poohsavybear on Sun Mar 30 20:48:39 PDT 2008
We are long time Nissan owners (Stanza, 2 Maximas, Xterra, and Pathfinder) and expecting #3 and didn’t want to cram 3 carseats in an 07 Maxima. At our last service on the Pathfinder we got an 07 Murano as our free loaner – it fit 3 carseats – no minivan for us!! :o) After reading through the forum my thoughts were we could get a leftover 07 Murano at a great deal plus using the 1.9% APR given there are no incentives on the 09s and not much room to haggle since they are selling very well. Knowing the last weekend of the month was coming and dealers needing to meet monthly sales goals and the 50th anniversary sales, I scoured local dealer websites that showed standing 07 inventory and did the combine internet route directly to the dealers followed up by the “fax attack” to the sales managers. I wasn’t able to find an 07 Murano with the exact options I wanted which happens when you are looking at leftovers. Given Nissan stopped making the 07s back in October combined with the base MSRP on the 09s are $1500 lower, I would think dealers would provide an extremely motivating deal to move standing inventory. The quotes weren’t bad but they weren’t awesome especially if they weren’t too far off of what we would spend on a new 09 using the post that in the DC area, Fitzmall (online) was offering new 09s for $600 under invoice. Nissan of Chantilly was EXCELLENT – very responsive, professional, no pressure, and happy to work with such an informed buyer. Everything was done via email. Ours salesman gave me a good quote on a leftover 07 but it had Sirius and I wanted XM. He offered to look in the inventory for an 07 with my desired options and found only one in the DC area that was close and said he’d bring it to his dealership. At this point, we were going to go with another dealership due to XM but as were finalizing the details, the GM from that dealership called and said the wrong car was pulled from system and the quote provided was incorrect. The new price was $2400 more. I was not happy about this but it did work out to our benefit. Our salesman from Nissan of Chantilly informed me since they did not have an 07 with XM that I was looking for, they would match the Fitzmall $600 under invoice on any 09 they had in stock. We went in today to purchase an 09 Murano SL AWD with Nav, Premium Package, Tech Package, Leather, Moonroof, Splash Guards, and Floor Mats – MSRP $37,990 and Invoice $34,615. We couldn’t justify spending the price difference between SL and LE for only a few additional items (20” tires, chrome roof rack, wood grain, memory seats, telescoping steering wheel) after adding all the options on the SL. Apparently the SL we came in to buy had already been sold to another buyer as they were there too. My 07 Maxima trade-in price wasn’t great (given my quote was so good) so I decided to take it to Carmax instead. We ended up walking out of the dealership with a 2009 Murano LE at a great deal. ;) I can’t even tell you how good of a deal I got, it would put them out of business. My advice – the 09 Murano is Nissan’s top selling car right now, do your homework, research prices in your area on this forum and look at local dealers internet prices, know exactly what you want/options, target the end of the month/last weekend as dealers have sales goals to meet, and use the internet and fax to your advantage – it will save you time and money. Not all dealers/areas are offering the 09s anywhere near invoice due to the high demand but they are starting to in some places. Given the state of the economy, I think it will start to make its way to others dealers – just give it some time if it’s not in your area yet. We had an excellent experience and were in and out quickly; going through the paperwork and finance was a breeze. I highly recommend Nissan of Chantilly if you’re in the market for a new Nissan today. You won’t be disappointed!! Here is the breakdown of our beauty: 2009 Murano SL Sapphire Blue with Black Interior Navigation System Dual Panel Moonroof Splash Guards Floor Mats Destination Charge - $745 Total MSRP - $39,920 Invoice - $36,628 3% VA Sales Tax Plus Tags/Title Processing Fee - $499 (This is high since MD is only $99 – this is automatic in the contract but you can negotiate lower into the price of the car.) Nissan of Chantilly offers free car wash for life, free lifetime state inspections, concierge to the airport, pick-up/drop off at work for oil changes.) -I had 5% financing with Navy Federal Credit Union. The dealer was able to beat it at 4.75% with Chevy Chase Bank – we have excellent credit.
