Buying in STL - Suntrup Nissan

Went to look at a Sentra (didn't like it at all), salesman aked if I had looked at the Versa. (I had never heard of it.) They had 2 right off the truck. One was almost custom mad for my tastes. Red SL, manual, convinience package, black interior. MSRP 15,905 (plus the dealer add ons of about 700). Was offered 2500 to start for my trade, taking it to 14,100. Ended up paying 13,250. (Last offer on the trade was 3200, 100 more than book. Past that I told them I didn't care where the price came from, just the bottom line.) Also got them to throw in a tank of gas if I bring in the survey card later. As soon as the tank is on E, I'll be there. Had looked hard at a Mazda3, but felt like there was a lot more room here, especially in the back, plus I liked the handling and feel of the transmission better. Only issue on day 3 (so far, anyway) is the gasket around the handle for the brake isn't seated right, and it pushes the hande up at times jsut enough to register that the brake is set. A little irriating, but should be simple enough to fix (for the dealer, of course.)
Re: 2005 Murano SL AWD Touring Package [hand1]
by boodrow on Mon Jul 11 11:24:42 PDT 2005
Just picked up a 2005 SL AWD at Avantage Nissan in Bremerton WA for $1000 under invoice. Got the quote from Edmunds using Seattle zip code for the dealer reply. Deal was well done except for the closer trying to sell me on warranty and maint. plan was a pain but finally took no for an answer. Drove it on a vacation and then back to AK for 4500 miles with a mpg of 23.5. Overall I am pleased with it and the buying experience.
Re: Titan purchase [titaneese]

I think you have the right attitude about it. Reasonable yet resolved! This is not the only truck out there and it is not a live-or-die decision. You'll keep the upper hand with the attitude you have. They should be able to do the $28400 or you can get a different truck (and maybe elsewhere) at some other time. Obviously it is not being oogled and fought over every day because it is still sitting there after how many days/weeks of posts here about it? $489 may not be much when compared to $28400, but it is still $489!

Sounds to me like they basically accepted your 28100 offer but not the "no fees" part. The 28893 adds the fees, then they say "no fees" to indicate this is your price. If you want the truck you should just offer to split the difference, but if I was spending 30K (ish) on a rig I'd probably have cold feet too. Hopefully it has a good heater in it. ;-D
Re: Question on Dealer Added Options on Titan [auto9999]
by xwesx on Sun Jan 23 09:16:11 PST 2005
Yeap, I'd say find another dealer. But, like you said, those are dealer added "options," so if you don't see any value in them, factor that into any price you'd offer this dealer (i.e., subtract the $3200 before you even consider the initial offer you'd make). The worst (best?) that could happen is that the dealer wouldn't sell you the truck. Maybe, over the years, this dealer has learned that there are enough people out there who do not ask questions that they can afford to lose a few sales when they get a (whopping) extra $3200 off each sale they do make to a sucker. *shrugs*
Re: ABOUT TO BUY NEW 05 MAXIMA 3.5 SL [kennyg5]
by sukhoi 30mki on Mon Jan 17 23:14:24 PST 2005
Hi Kennyg5   The DVD based Sat Nav for the Maxima SL is absolutely brilliant with Bird Eye view technology and 7 million points of interest. It is the same as the Sat Nav that is being offered in the Infinity Q45, M45/35, as well as the G35/35x, so its a stonking good deal. The Sat Nav is voice operated and recognizes over 500 spoken commands so u dont need to sit like a robot and speak slowly for the system to recognize what ur saying!!! go for it by all means. It covers continental USA excluding AK and HI, but does not cover Canada unfortunately...contact Nissan dealers and im sure that for a nominal amt, u can get coverage for all of Canada as well......   The DPP offers Heated seats for driver and passenger only but not Heated Steering Wheel. If u want heated rear seats then u'll have to opt for the Elite 4 seat rear package, that not only offers 2 heated rear seats, but also full power adjustable rear seats, express one touch up/down rear passenger windows with retained power accessory, as well as a nifty power operated rear sun screen!!!.....however, Elite pckg seating equipped Maximas are not easily available so u have to hunt for dealers that have such vehicles in stock....also i feel that bargaining for such a vehicle much below invoice wud be a tad bit more difficult...nevertheless bargain ruthlessly coz those dealers still need to clear the stock of Elite Package equipped Maximas!!!!!...remember go for the elite package version only if ur single or at the max 2 people, coz it becomes impractible if kids or more than 2 people need to ride in the back......   Cheers!!!!   (Do check out the SU-30MKI.....its an awesome bird)
