Original Review - Came to this dealer in response to a specific online ad for a used 2009 Elantra SE, which I decided was the model Elantra I wanted because only SE has Electronic Stability Control. I explained this to the salesman who assured me it truly was an SE and had that feature. Inspecting the car I was confused that there was no switch on the dash to disable ESC feature which I'd seen on the other Elantra SEs I had looked at. He explained that on this model it is automated and needs no switch. Knowing less of the fine points at that time and assuming the sales professional did know his products, I believed him. I bought the car. After reading a manual which they only supplied me with as I drove away in the car I realized there is always a switch and this was not a SE with the feature I had been sold. The window sticker BTW clearly said it was an SE. I took it back to the salesman who I realized didn't understand the feature until his service manager and another sales rep explained it to him. He promised me to replace the car with another Elantra that was the correct model. He got me to sign an agreement selling them back the false SE but not nearly for the money I had paid for it and agreeing to sell the bank loan back to them. He assured me this is how it would be done to straighten it out without more cost to me. I only saw the deal they were giving me for the correct car after I signed that and found out they were keeping my original down payment $3400. I trusted their good intentions and they turned their incompetence into additional profit for them at my expense. Don't trust them to be professional or to act in good faith. BBB complaint has been filed.
