Re: $1500 under invoice? [avalanchez66]

Everything you say is OK. I have also find out these good discounts. But I should say for example that South Coast has only 2WD 2008 Outlander XLS, but a lot of 2007 Outlander XLS and LS. They have cars with few colors. They don't have for example Rally Red I access its web page and look at its inventory of new cars. Not too many on 2008 Outlanders. I have received a new offer from a dealer not far from Palo Alto with $400 below invoice for a 2008 Outlander XLS. I think I may settle for this offer.

Thanks for the info on the Service Dept at South Coast. I live in the Temecula area so I will try Carriage Mitsubishi's Service Dept. Hopefully they are better than their Sales Dept.It will be kinda fun to drive up to Carriage Mitsu with South Coast license plates. We have had this car for almost a week now and I have to say that I am very impressed. We looked at the CRV and RAV4 and they do not even come close in any way. The engine has plenty of power, the interior(leather) is so comfortable, and I think it is one of the best looking SUV's out there. I also think it's cool that you don't see that many of them because it makes it stand out that much more. And the sound system. We bought this car for my wife but I have to drive it once in awhile just to make sure all 650 watts are working OK. I have never heard such an awesome factory -installed system. I make sure I play some old Rock-n-Roll like Quiet Riot or Rush and everyone knows you're coming. There are so many technical features on this car that I really need to take a whole day just to read the book and set everything up. The bluetooth feature is really cool. The book is so thick for this car I can't believe it. For those of you looking at this site who haven't bought an Outlander yet, don't think about anything else. You will not find another SUV in this price range that will give you so much. I still recommend looking for an 07' online. Just go to the Mitsubishi website and look up dealers in your area. Go to the dealers website and look for Outlanders. Many of them still have some 07's. If you're in So Cal, go to South Coast Mitsubishi's website. I'm sure they still have several 07's available and they are a great dealership to work with. I drove over an hour from my house to get there and it was well worth the drive. If you do find an 07' you like, go down there and offer them at least $3000 below invoice. They may try to tell you that's impossible but stand your ground. They will take the offer if you just say "take-it-or-leave-it". They have to get rid of the 07's.

Real life mileage will always be lower for both cars, but official numbers would help to compare mileage. Official mileage for Santa Fe: 20 mpg / 25 mpg (manual) V6 185 horses 21 mpg / 26 mpg (auto) V6 185 horses Outlander 19 mpg / 26 mpg (auto) V6 220 horses. I'd say based on my experience the highway mileage is excellent on Outlander and city mileage is just OK.

STATUS UPDATE First of all, I want to thank those of you who have replied to my thread. This was an "eye-opening" experience for me and I hope it will be helpful to others who review this thread. OK, I went to the Dealer today and they gave me carbon-copies of my documents that the Finance Mgr had initialed and scratched off the words 'Used' and wrote in the word 'New'. He said he caught this clerical error and initialed the changes before sending them to Mitsubishi/Finance Co./State Dept of Revenue. He along with the Sales Mgr and my Sales Rep swore up and down that this was a New car and that I had nothing to worry about and they even acted surprised by my concern. I expressed my concerns about warranties/lemon law and they said that my car has not been titled and what the Warranties and Lemon Laws look at are the Date of Delivery (when I took possession)of the car and that I'm the original owner. Finance Mgr said that if I'm still concerned, I should wait until I receive my first pay statement from Mitsu Finance and then I can contact them to confirm title. A co-worker also suggested I call the Secretary of State in a few weeks to see if they have any record of any other title holder to my car, which I will do. I also did a quick CARFAX check and no records were returned for the VIN #. (which is a good thing) I'm going to wait a few more weeks and check again and purchase a complete report to be sure. Regarding the question of the Muroney sticker, it was placed in the binder along with the Owner's Manual because the car was being washed when we went to pick it up. No other sticker was included/visible. The sticker shows that car was delivered to another Mitsu dealer in Illinois which is about 40 miles away, which may account for the mileage assuming it was driven from there to my dealership. I'll provide another update in about a month after the paperwork gets filed. BOTTOM LINE/Moral of Story: ============================ Review every sales document carefully and make sure every "i" is dotted and every "t" is crossed before you sign and leave the dealership.

Re: Navi vs 3rd party? [terrieh]

The AVIC-Z1 has a few more features that I really wish my stock Nav had: Real time traffic -- Only available in select busy cities, but it's a great feature if you've ever used it. Hopefully we will be able to add that to the stock Nav if XM and Sirius merge. iPod connectivity -- The AVIC-Z1 connects directly to iPods and displays the playlist on the screen. IMO, the hard drive storage is OK, but less than ideal compared to the simplicity of an iPod. Back-Up camera -- The AVIC-Z1 connects to a rear view camera and automatically displays it when the car is in reverse. It can also show a rear view in split-screen, which is useful when towing things. Drawbacks to the AVIC-Z1: Looks -- IMO, the stock Nav looks more integrated and easier to adjust (bigger buttons etc.). You'll have to find a bezel for the dash that hopefully fits as perfectly as the stock Nav. Time & Cost -- Install time from a professional is going to be fairly expensive, especially if you want to make sure that all of the functions are working properly. If you're going to do it yourself, great, but it still takes time and expertise. Accessory functions -- I'm not sure if the steering wheel buttons will work with the AVIC-Z1. If they don't, then that's a big negative because I use those frequently to adjust volume and fast forward. You lose out on some of the adjustability found in the stock Nav. Adjusting the entry beeps, windshield wiper frequency, dome light duration etc. Not a big loss, but still a loss.
