I want to thank all for the great job of research and time to share your buying expirience. Finaly I got my Mitsubishi Outlander :) today after about 2 monts of research and compairing smaller SUV's. My last two choises were the Mitsubishi or Mazda CX-7. The Mitsubishi won because of the ride, V6, warranty, financing and fuel. Here is my deal from Grand Mitsubishi in Bensenville,IL- XLS 4WD, sun & sound, navigation, etc for 26,500. I was dealing with 4 dealer and finaly got the best deal for me. That also includes free lifetime oil change and 2500 cupons for any maintanance. So I want to thank everyone in the forum and happy driving. ;)
08 Lancer GTS fully loaded
by teekster on Fri May 18 23:16:29 PDT 2007
I live in IL Chicagoland area. Just purchased an 08 Lancer GTS, fully loaded in electric blue for 22,243. Of course the dealership tried to sell it to me for sticker price, which I said there's no way in hell I'm paying. I don't believe I got a good deal, I got a fair deal. Included in the 22,243 was door guards, wheel locks, and scuff plates. The financing was 4.9% at 60 months, which I believe there is a special for until 5/31/07. I also had a trade in valued just over 5,100. After the trade in, I also was eligible for the 2 incentives bringing it down another 1,000. I just want everyone on here to know that Electric Blue is the most requested color out there. The salesperson flat out LIED TO ME. First he said they had 1 Electric Blue GTS at another location. After about 30 minutes of talking to his manager, he comes back and says Mitsubishi is having a problem with the blue paint chipping off and there won't be anymore blue Lancers until July. To top this off, he says that any other dealer would tell me this same exact thing. Next, he offers me a black or red GTS, which I said let me think about it. I pretended like I was on the phone with another dealership and just before I was going to tell him I would wait until July, he magically says they have one. Max Madsen Mitsubishi has poor salesmen. This guy spent more time in the manager's office than he did talking to me. It was annoying how they purposely extended the negotiation for no reason. On top of this, they had other salespersons acting as spies to try to hear pieces of conversation I was having with the person I brought with me. Be careful if you negotiate with them. This will probably be my second and LAST Mitsubishi I buy from them.
buying experience

My attempt to buy a Endeavor and trade in my old one was hampered by a local dealer who didn't stock any ES models and had only 2 LS models in stock.(both hidden in the far back of the lot)This experience didn't get any better when I discovered I knew more about the vehicle than the sales staff, and their interest in me seemed half hearted at best. I think this may be too common at some of todays mega dealers who sell multible lines under one dealership. I know Mitsubishi isn't putting up any good sales volume numbers , so in such a dealership, Mitsubishi is all but ignored. It's a shame and it makes Mitsubishi's attempt at a comeback all the harder. The story ends with me traveling 90 miles to a dealership that was only Mitsubishi and they had the vehicle in stock and the sales staff knew the difference between a Outlander and an Endeavor. We drove home in a new 07 SE after the trade, rebate and loyalty bonus(the mega dealer had no knowledge of a loyalty bonus)As for price paid I was in line with all the figures I got using the Edmunds site for a TMV price and my trade value. For all the Chicagoland people

Just picked up my fully loaded XLS in graphite gray today. I tried to get something to work with any of the dealers in Chicagoland with no luck, so I went to O'Brien Auto Team in Normal, IL. The came in under invoice and I worked everything out over email ...the most painless process ever after I got there. I would recommend that if you don't mind taking a little road trip to Peoria, Bloomington or Urbana...go check them out. Bluetooth phone system works great, the navi is easy to work and very accurate. Went around tonight to look at Christmas lights and punched in a list of ten addresses ....works perfectly. I agree on the wind noise...it was more than the 04 CRV that I traded from, but that stereo system makes up for it and that will be up most of the time anyway, so I'm not worried about that. Will report back later with some mileage estimates for the wonderful suburban traffic around here.

I did. One time, I was trailing a tractor trailer, and some weird smell started coming in from the outside air through the A/C, so I tried to close the vent and recirculate the air, but I can't. The recirculate button just won't light up. I look it up in the manual, and it turns out, in an auto climate A/C system, you can't recirculate the air if the blower is set to defog the windshield (which was the blower setting at that time). Which actually made sense since recirculating the air will create more fog. This is another "smart" function of the car. May not be true for manual A/C. Most of the other advanced features of the vehicle can be adjusted through the navi screen, if so equipped. Another thing I'd like to mention is the luxury package. I thought I never needed it (Leather seats, powered and heated and HID lamps) but after having it for just a week, I really loved it, and I think it was a worthy option to include. The HID lights offers better illumination, a plus feature I found very useful during the last storm that hit the IL/IN area The Outlander interior insulates well. The leather seats that I thought would be very cold after being parked overnight in a roofed garage (no walls) was actually not that cold. It was cold but tolerable, and when the air heater kicks in, the seat heating can be optional. This is in comparison to my GF's 03 CR-V, parked in the same garage, where the bottled water left in the car turned into ice.
My Experience

Got my XLS 4WD, no additional packages for invoice, and a decent trade-in on my car. So, I feel I got a good deal. I've had the car 3 days, so far so good. I'm in the Chicago area, if anyone is interested I can give you my contact at the dealer...
