Re: 2008 XLS no options [batman47]

Batman47,where are you located? I'm in Southern California and a few of us on this forum have gotten $1500 + below invoice at South Coast Mitsu in Costa Mesa, CA.There are several dealers out here in SoCal. I ended up getting over $3200 below invoice because I went with an 07' XLS that had the rebate. Hopefully you're in an area with at least a few Mitsu dealers within 30 miles or so and what you do is go back and forth with the Internet managers at those dealers. Just don't be in a hurry and you will get a great deal. Like I've said before, they will probably laugh at you and act like it's impossible, in fact, they even showed me on their computer how much they will "lose" on the deal. That is just BS. They want you to think they're not making any money. I'm telling you, if you have the invoice of the vehicle you want, offer them $1500 less. If they say no, walk out. You might not get this price at the first dealer you go to, so be patient. I contacted several dealers by email and phone so I didn't waste time and gas. That is the beauty of email. If you have any more questions batman47, feel free to email me at ca_angelsfan@yahoo.com. Good luck.

Hi Costello Nice deal. I am also looking for the same model. Did you pay Maryland taxes? Also how do you like the car? I have test driven Outlander XLS 3 times now and I am still not able to make up my mind if this is the car for me. I like the tech features that it offers but the engine is not quite smooth and quiet as a Murano or even a RAV V6. I am cross shoping it with RDX base, which I found to be a lot more smoother, handles better and rich from inside but not sure if it is worth the extra 6k in cost and plus the premium gas.
I bought mine

I've been researching on Edmunds since July and finally decided on the Outlander. Was waiting on 0% financing but didn't materialize. Sent email to local dealers asking for a quote. Most sent me their phone number to try and get me on the phone or in their office. One dealer sent me a quote for an XLS with no options for 22,550. My target price was 22,500 so he was right on the mark. He didn't have the color i wanted but could get it from another dealer. I stopped by to make sure i liked the color (desert sand beige) and decided the cloth interior wouldn't get along with my 4 yr old. They had an XLS with sun/sound, nav and luxury on the lot in that color. The dealer offered it to me for 26,600 plus tax and registration and with 2.9% for 60 months so I took it. So far i love it. The sound system is awesome. Leather is a bit stiff and not as comfy as the cloth but im sure will be worth it in the long run. Drives great and so far gas milage is averaging 23mpg as long as i drive sensibly.

Thank you for your helpful responses! So the Outlander is still in the running (helped by the fact that I've read very few negative user reviews) - maybe I need to give it a second chance. I think if I'd had a better experience at the dealership, it would have helped. I understand what you're saying about getting all the safety features, etc...for far less than the Toyota/Honda choices. I may also consider the Santa Fe (unfortunately, it's the same dealership!). So, are you saying offer $1500-$2000 under invoice (so invoice = $20,686, offer 18,686 AND get the $1000 rebate = $17,686?). Or are you suggesting a total price (including rebate) to fall between $1500-$2000 below invoice (so about $19,686 before the $1000 rebate = $18,686?). I know my local dealership only has one left, white, which I don't want. I may try the multiple dealership fax/email approach and see if I get anywhere there. I may also just use my first initial so that I don't have my gender working against me. Jerks! Do you guys know if real world driving has the Outlander getting better gas mileage than the Santa Fe? I know I can look at the reviews, but that doesn't always reflect correctly. Thank you - this forum board is very helpful (I actually used it 2 years ago when I was originally thinking of getting a new car - back then it was a Honda Civic, but my needs have changed!).
What we paid
by lewisb22 on Wed Mar 07 05:53:22 PST 2007
We had an excellent buying experence from out mistubishi dealer here in Marietta, GA. My wife wanted a fully loaded Silver XLS (Luxury, Sun & Sound, and Navigation. It took a couple of months as the only ones they could find were well out of state and we weren't in a rush, so we waited till they had one on the lot. A fully load 2wd XLS came in Friday and out sales person called and let us know. We went over Friday night and purchased it for $26,898 plus tax, title, and tag, invoice was $27,277 and MSRP was $29,255. The price included the Accessory Protection Package as well (mud guards, scuff plates, rear bumper protector and body side molding). Does that sound like a pretty good deal? We thought so. We didnt trade our 2002 Tribute as they didnt want to give us enough for it. So we gota sell that now.

Enjoying it is what counts the most. As I always say, "If you're not having fun, you're wasting the gas"! :D
