I had been looking for a Mazdaspeed 3 and shopping on line for about three months when I decided to actually go into a dealership to take a look at one up close and in person. I went to my local dealer and did not have a very good experience. I won't mention any names but I can say that I live in Overland Park so you can figure out the rest..... I decided to give my local dealer another chance to impress me and instead of being let down by salesperson the sales manager made me feel like they didn't need my business and told me that none of the people there knew if they had a job anyway since the dealership was sold. That store has changed hands three times now in three years so that made me nervous when I found that out. The second dealership I went to was just a little bit longer of a drive but still pretty close. None of the salesman there knew much about the car and the lot was very crowded with used cars and new cars so it was hard to navigate through the lot. I did get a chance to meet the owner and he was very nice to me and knew more about the car than the salesman that I had spoken with so that was comforting. When I decided that I would make my purchase there the next day I went in with my trade thinking I was going to drive home in a Mazdaspeed 3 but the gentleman I had met was on vacation and someone I had not met was now in charge of the deal and was not kind at all. I was told me trade was not good merchandise and that they were not interested in it at all. I did not think that a Pontiac Gran Prix was bad merchandise and neither does this website so I left very frustrated. I decided that maybe the Mazdspeed was not a great idea since I was 0 for 2 with Mazda dealers so far and gave up on the deal. I heard a commercial on the radio advertising for Blue Ridge Mazda in Lee's Summit at a new location and decided to go out there to check it out. My salesman was Justin and he actually knew more about the car than I did! That was a first. Another salesperson talked to me when Justin was busy with another customer and was just as educated about the product as Justin, I think his name was Scott. After about 10 minutes at this dealership I felt like they valued my time and would treat me better as a customer than the other two store I had stopped at. They made me a reasonable offer on my car (I wish it would have been about $700 more) and I decided to buy the car from them. I do want to say that the car was not for me it was for my son so they suggested I bring him in when it was time to take finally delivery of the car to make sure that he understood everything about the vehicle. I have purchased 3 cars in the past for my other children and 2 for my wife without them being there and this was the first time anyone had suggested that the person that was going to be driving the car be there for the "new car delivery". What a great idea! The whole experience at Blue Ridge Mazda far exceeded my expectations and I would send everyone I knew there. Just as we were getting ready to drive off in the new car the Sales Manager came out and shook both of our hands and thanked us for our business. Something he said to me really stood out. He said "Welcome to our family". They were fantastic. The only thing that they I think they could have improved on was the selection of the cars. I wanted a different color and could not get it.
