Lunch transport in my car
Written by 03/27/2011
onI took my daughter's Accord to Lee's Summit Honda for service. When we picked it up, there was a taco bell receipt (with date and time) in the car where the service guy had picked up his lunch in the drive thru while 'test driving' the car. I took the receipt to the service manager and asked for a small discount or bonus of some kind for this having happened and was politely rebuffed. Apparently, even though it is against their policy for service people to use a customer's car for any personal use, violation of this policy is not considered wronging the consumer. I know it is a little deal, but when you bust them red handed, and they don't even offer a coupon for the future or anything other than insincerely quipping (once only) 'sorry,' you know they don't care at all about the customer in the big picture.
I have also had another experience at the same dealer service dept. where we took the same daughter's car, the inspecting technician said several things needed to be replaced (CV boots, etc) and when we took it for a second opinion (and didn't tell them it was so) at a place we have had car service at before, they found only half the work really needed to be done. I then told the other garage what Honda said it needed and the guy looked closely again before restating the other boot wasn't cracked and didn't need to be replaced. I went back to the service manager with this information and he blew me off (as before with the taco bell), basically saying his technicians knew better than any non-Honda technicians. Translation: No real answer and I don't really care...
Bottom line is: The service work we have had completed was good quality work. But you have to know you really need it, and if push comes to shove and they do something wrong, y
