Your Mazda Tribute should get around 19 to 20 mpg City and 24 to 26mpg hwy. I have a 2005 Mercury Mariner (same engine as the Ford escape and your Mazda Tribute. I make at least three roundtrips per year from Florida to NJ and have always averaged 24 to 26 mpg hwy (and that is doing about 65 to 75 mph on Rt.95 most of the way (except for that darn Washington D.C. beltway area). I don't know why you would want a "chip" to boost your performance?? And, I would assume it might void your warranty.You are in Real Estate, so you should not be interested in hopping up your vehicle, as I assume you take customers to and from proospective home sites? Be happy with whayt you have..You purchased a reliable vehice that should give you many trouble-free miles.

You probably could have done a lot better on the 2005 model with all the rebates and finance incentives. If you paid MSRP, then yes, you paid too much. If you go to the Edmunds New cars, then check out the exact model you purchased against the edmunds prices...MSRP vs Invoice....and make sure you price all the exact options that you received....then you will have a much better idea as to your "deal", plus you have to figure out if you got a good deal on your trade-in (which can also be checked out here at Edmunds ( with 130,000 miles and a shot tranny, I really have no idea what that would be worth as to trade-in value) as used SUV's are a dime a dozen right now with gas prices the way thay are and people clamoring for more "economical" gas mileage vehicles. resales....thanks for the small letters and as long as you are satisfied with your new Mazda...that is all that really matters. the deal is done...so be happy, the Mazda Tribute, with the 4yr., 50,000 mile warranty is a very good decision.

I, hereby and furthermore, refuse to answer any questions that are typed in "CAPITAL LETTERS".....and furthermore, why ask if you received a "good deal" after you already bought the vehicle. The time to ask is before you buy and give us all the info beforehand!

X-Plan answer {maybe}
by nortsr1 on Thu Sep 02 05:53:05 PDT 2004
The X-Plan "sometimes is lower than invoice {but not all the time, but very close}. Sometimes it pays to negotiate a better price without the X-Plan...but...you have to realize....that...with the X-Plan, the dealer "Can Not" add any additional charges, such as extra advertising fees, extra MV fees, extra doc fees, etc.    Check the invoice price as listed here on Edmunds [then take the invoice price of the other extras on the MSRP sticker} and add them onto the invoice price of the edmunds invoice and compare them against the MSRP sticker total (don't forget that the delivery charge is part of the sticker and should be also added {this is the same amount on both the MSRP and invoice price} usually around four to six hundred depending on what make vehicle. After comparing all of this, you should get a very close idea of weather or not the X-Plan is higher or lower than invoice. Just don't forget to check with the dealer to see if there are in fact "extra charges" that are not on the sticker (excluding of course, Tax,tags and license fees.}   I know this is a long post, but I tried to explain it in the best way that I know.
