Sounds like you got a good deal, gf2020. I am looking at 07 Explorers and have a 2002 xlt 4wd 4.0 w/80000 miles and am wondering what they gave you for your 2002 in trade. I will check out the Mercury M, thanks for the tip. Regards, Dave.

There is no such thing as the Edmunds invoice price, or the CarsDirect invoice price, or the dealer's invoice price. There is only one invoice price, and Edmunds just reports what it is. So do all the other sites. Realistically, for some makes, you'll need to add advertising and other fees to the invoice since the dealers claim that they must pay them. (NOTE: By "other fees" I do not mean the dealer doc fee, which is a dealer concoction. I mean manufacturer fees.)

I got the exact same deal ($200 over) on a fully loaded SE. (everything but the tow package). Invoice is $34817.00.. Dealer is charging me $185.00 extra, for lifetime window tint on all windows. I thought this was a super deal, since I live in Phoenix and the tint is an absolute neccesity. total= $35202.00 My Doc & Admin fees I think are fair @ $299.00. I would try and haggle that, but this dealer has treated me superbly. I have been taking our maxima and pathfinder there for years now - and the Service manager has ALWAYS been cheery, extra knowledgeable and given me breaks on all my costs. When it came time for me to look for a new Quest, he was the once who recommended the sales person that I ended up going with. We sold the Maxima outright (on eBay no less) and got excellent money for it. We didn't shop around at all. This site and KBB have armed me with more information that I ever thought imaginable. I spent a total of about 15 minutes with the sales person. She could just tell I meant business, and there was zero haggling. Right down to $200 over invoice. I am pleased with this deal, and have left a deposit while they order one from the factory. My color is Smoke. Am a little irritated they tell me it could take 2-3 months to get in, but I wouldn't take my business anywhere else. we haven't talked about warranty AT ALL yet. it's not even on my buyers order sheet, which I signed (with the price).. so we'll see. Dealers need to make a profit. If your comfortable with the way you are treated and have a good relationship with the dealer, it is reasonable to expect to pay a couple hundred more. My dealer is in Tempe AZ..
Out

The 2005 Escape is already out - I just saw an XLS model on Saturday while getting service at the dealer. I went to the Mazda dealer who said he had received some 2005 Tributes, and when I arrived no one could find them. They even drove me to an auxiliary lot and they weren't there. Their inventory data showed them as having arrived, but they could not find them - or their computer was counting vehicles before their actual arrival. It was very annoying.

Only way to get the VPP price if you aren't a supplier is to be a relative of someone who is/was a Nissan employee... - Direct, full-time employees of Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) and Nissan affiliate companies. - Retirees of NNA and affiliate companies who have received normal, early or disability retirement, and surviving spouses of such retirees. - Immediate family members of the above people, including spouse, parents, spouse's parents, children (including sons- and daughters-in-law and step children), and siblings (including brothers- and sisters-in-law, half-brothers, half-sisters, step-brothers and step-sisters). If just anyone could get the discount, then it wouldn't be much of a perk for those who deserve it, would it?
