Julius, thanks for your thoughtful post. You nailed it. This fall when I am in Greenwich doing Christmas shopping, I'll stop in with coffee for your crew... New car dealerships remind me of the airline industry: everyone makes money except the airlines. The car dealer at best breaks even and everyone around him does well. This list includes the manufacturer, the real estate developer who sold him the taj majal the factory insisted he build (someone should come up with an idea for what to do with all these Hummer quonset huts that will be empty in a couple of years), his lawyers, CPAs, and attorneys, the insurance guys who insure the new cars he sells, the utilties he pays to heat and cool his all glass showroom in July and January (the utilitiy bills in these new all glass dealerships must be enormous; does Porsche really think that their dealer in Nashua, NH where it regularly goes below zero in the winter, really should have glass building?), etc. etc. all do very well and play golf on weekends. The dealer-principal? He works 80 hours a week and his wife wonders why he can't go down to Boca with her for two months in February. The dealership staff? They move around regularly thinking that there must be a dealership out there that is truly better and different. Somehow they hang in there until their mid-50's. (I've never seen anyone at a dealership over 55 unless his name was on the door.)

I was just at Holloway Benz in Greenland NH. We were looking at the R350 with MSRP 55,000.00. The lease was 5K down and 581.38 a month for 27 months with 12K miles a year and a residual of 35,200(64% residual). The money factor was .0004. Upon leaving the dealership they had a CDI they could "promo" and drop off the 5K cap reduction. Your deal seems insanely good. We want that one. So $12k upfront for 27 months, 12k miles/year on a $67K MSRP? Nothing else? Any information you can give would be appreciated.

not sure what terms are like but at holloway benz greenland nh (sister dealer in manchester nh) as of a few weeks ago had few r500s left and sales manager very eager to move. I got lucky in sept, mine is loaded, $67k, 12k year, one pay $12k out the door, not a nicke more for 27 months. good luck, exceptional car for the $, almost makes me feel a little dirty...

Considering the time of the year, it appears that the price is $500 high. I purchase a E320 ordered Jan 12 for April 1st delivery for 6% discount without any add on markup.

Does anyone have any buying experience buying a Mercedes from Globe Motor Cars in Fairfield, New Jersey. Recently obtain a favorable quote from them on a new E Class. It would be nice to have a little bit of insight on them before I jump in.I'm not from the New Jersey area.
Thanks for the Pricing & Dealer Information csxviii

Great to hear about pricing & dealer information on a 2004 E class. Being from New Hampshire, dealers are not very competitive. Not being familiar with dealerships in other areas it's a big help learning what dealers in a more competitive area are getting. Will travel 300 or 400 miles for a good deal. Thanks again.
