Buying a car from a Mercedes-Benz Car Dealer
Hello I would really appreciate some advice as I am new to the lease process. Good deal or bad - if bad, what areas should I try to negotiate to save $ C300, 4matic, 4 dr, luxury sedan, non metallic, nav- one disk, P1, rear camera MSRP - $43,195 (incl. dest) my price - $38,133.50 MF - .00156 Residual - 73% 10k mi/yr 24 months monthly payment - $380 (incl. tax- PA) Have $2000 conquest rebate and $2500 at signing which includes bank fees, first month, etc (?), and a portion to lower my monthly payment. I guess one bottom line is - what are the fees that are included in the $2500 and how much of it is leftover to offset my payments? Been waiting for the breakdown from the dealer for 2 days and will be calling again tomorrow to get the exact figures (I hope). I would like to be better educated as to what fees should be included and what would be a reasonable amount for each fee so I can better understand what he's telling me and where I may be overcharged. Also, the choice to add some extra money at signing was mine but after reading some discussions in the forum I am thinking maybe I should reconsider doing that for a lease. I can't seem to come up with the same numbers as the dealer so I guess I am missing something here and would appreciate any advice/info. Thanks
Interested in the Bluetec, but none locally, so thought we would go drive an E-Class before we started contacting dealers with diesels.. E350 4Matic with P01 pkg, Parktronic, metallic paint and fold down rear seats.. MSRP $58,900. Quoted 33 month, 12K mi/yr lease, with scheduled maintenance plan included.. for $647/mo + tax, with around $1250 due at signing... Actually, not too bad... But, not in our budget, either... My wife did like the vehicle.. I hadn't been in a new Mercedes in a long, long time.. Bank vault solid and very quiet. You can see where the money goes... They only had two 2011 models left at this dealership...
Medphreak, I'm not sure what this dealer is doing. They are clearly trying to take advantage of you. I live in Ann Arbor, MI. I recently went in shopping for a R350 or E350..ended up buying E-class. But for the R-class....they took $10,000 of MSRP literally before I even sat down to talk numbers. Once I sat down, they took $11,500 of MSRP. There is a $6000 REBATE from mercedes alone. this dealer is trying to sell you the car, at FULL MSRP...and only deducting from the rebate. clearly they are trying to rip you off. Plz dont take it the wrong way, dont settle for anything less than 10k off msrp. Tho i think 11k is common these days on an R350. If they insisit they can't go lower, just walk away, because this is bad deal.
for an '06 you need to find a big dealer with inventory. look in FLA, TX, CA. check ebay. a few dealers are offering up decent deals with $13500 off MSRP. there may be better deals to be had, but the landscape is changing every day and you need to find a dealer who NEEDS to move inventory and is willing to make under $2k on a car. as for your deal, they quoted a MF below what MB is offering. i assume they can do it by making it up in cash at signing - which clearly they are doing with $4500 down. the residual looks correct. the 4500 clearly isnt buying down the monthly payment. is 52,700 the msrp?? post the msrp and the amount they are taking off msrp and somebody will run #s for you i m sure. or just find a lease calculator on line. edmunds.com has a good easy one. the long and short of it is you are looking at a bad deal.... here are resids/MFs for '07s - 2007 R350 4dr Wagon 24 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 66% of MSRP – .00165 Base Money Factor Rate 36 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 57% of MSRP – .00165 Base Money Factor Rate 48 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 50% of MSRP – .00165 Base Money Factor Rate 60 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 44% of MSRP – .00370 Base Money Factor Rate
See my post #219. Right now, the '07 are here and '06 are still around with the $7k incentives. Color may have to be compromised, but it's still a great deal. Base on my calc, $58k MSRP (assuming $54k invoice), your total payment should be a hair shy of $14K for 27 MO 12k mi/yr including sale taxes and lease inception fees. This is assuming your dealer is willing to give you 4.5% of the 5.5% holdback. Base on your deal, the total with sales taxes is $14,661, which means he is at about 3.5% into holdback. Not a bad deal.
