Finalized the purchase of c300 Lux

Folks at Lokey in Clearwater ( FL) treated us very well. We ordered Palladium Silver, with black interior c300 Lux in October and put our deposit in November. On December 22, they told us that the car was ready for delivery. We were happy with the purchase and the total came to 31,772 plus taxes and other things ... OTD $34,700 (this figure included installation of the Sport Grille which we also ordered ahead of time.) Lokey treated us well throughout the process. So finally, we wrote the check, completed dozens of forms and got the keys. It was at that time that we were told by the sales manager (Courtney) that Lokey was giving us a present! We thought it was a box of sweets. ......the car had the Premium Package 1 worth $1400.00! Needless to say, our buying experience was excellent even before but this was a real surprise. If you go to Lokey, ask for Mr. Courtney.

Jeff, how did you arrive to $40,660? We told the man that our budget was $34,500 OTD. He then worked the deal backwards and there were several discounts, including $1,000 loyalty discount. We started some time ago with the EDP (Euro Delivery Plan) and then, when the difference between EDP and local purchase became less and less, we decided not to bother with the EDP (we are going to Europe anyway). Go to www.mbusa.com and try to build one without any options except the metalic paint. This is a stripped-down C300 Lux. It would be $700 less if we got white but the car looks better (to us) in silver. There was nothing on the lot for less than 36,000 as ALL cars had "Packages" and/ or add-ons. I hope this helps. Williamc: I'm actually in southern VA now (USAF moves me every three years). But you know what they say: "Home is where the heart is". As a die hard Mets, Jets, Knicks, and Rangers fan, I should probably say "BROKEN heart"... BTW, I actually bought my C350 in Tampa. It was such a crazy deal that I bought it online and flew down to pick it up. I wanted a 6 speed and could only find two east of the Mississippi--one in Cleveland and one in FL.

I've contacted several dealers in my area (Tampa Bay, FL.) and only one will give me a firm price quote over the phone($2500 off MSRP on a car they have in stock that is not my first choice in color) without coming into the dealership. All the other dealerships have told me (over the phone) that they are willing to give me a "fair deal ABOVE THEIR INVOICE PRICE on a car". My local dealer with the car I'm interested in buying is not willing to budge off the $33,600 price... leaves me sort of stuck. I just don't foresee any "invoice", or "below invoice" deals on a 2005 C230K happening in my area. Any thoughts?
