took the 8 in on Monday ...: by lhess on Fri Apr 07 07:12:04 PDT 2006; to finally get my recalls done. I know that sounds bad, but didn't get to it last fall and didn't drive him all winter so.... Anyway, my Mazda dealer had a crapload of 05 8's left on the lot - probably around 12 give or take. I didn't look them over in great detail, but I know there was one white one, a few reds and blacks, and they had only one auto. Most stickers I looked at were in the $28 - $31K range. I did not ask about selling prices simply because I'm not in the market for one, but I got nearly $10K off my leftover 04 from them last year (and it was earlier than this in the new year). The dealership is Lester Raines Imports in South Charleston WV. If you google them, they do have a website with no real info on it other than phone number, directions... Might be worth checking out if 05 inventories are getting skimpy in your area.

Thanks to those who gave me leads to the various cars here or other places! Forum rules say no contact info, so that has been removed. I am getting a new 05, so I am no longer in the market for a new 04 so I thought I would share the ones I know about with others who may be looking. If your dealer has a new 04, you might do the same. Since Mazda removed the 04s from the inventory search it makes it a lot harder to find them. These are the ones I know about and all are 6mt cars: 2004 sunlight silver GT w/appearance, changer, wind deflector, spoiler, accents, spare. Invoice should be around $30,461 including destination. Dealer offered it to me for invoice - $4,000 - 100% of hold back ($534) - doc fee (the doc fee is added back on). Should be around $25,925 if I did my math right. The car has about 500 miles on it and is in good shape. I test drove it and drove really nice. It is at Mike Creque Mazda in Franklin, TN. Ask for ____ _____ (Internet sales manager) (615) xxx-xxxx . As of this morning still available. 2004 red GT w/NAV. This dealer has 3 of them (last time I talked to them) all the same, just GT and NAV. Asking $26,200 + $50 doc fee. Invoice is around $30,255 so that price is right at invoice and they keep the $534 hold back. The dealer is Raines Mazda in Charleston, WV. (304) xxx-xxxx . I talked with ____ ____. All the cars are supposed to have "just a few" miles on them. 2004 red GT w/NAV. Loaded up with every option. MSRP of $35,819, offered at $29,716 (too high, I thought). Irwin Lincoln Mercury Mazda Freehold, NJ (732) xxx-xxxx 2004 gray touring w/NAV - MSRP of $33,609. Has the touring pack (cloth seats) and NAV I know - not sure about the other options. Offered to me for $26,095. I talked to ____ ____ at Kempthorn Motors Canton, Oh (800) xxx-xxxx . 2004 yellow GT w/NAV - MSRP of $35,499. They are 6 spds, Grand Touring with leather, bose...., they have the spare tire, and navigation. No rotary accents or spoilers. I had an Acura Integra years ago (5sp) and then went the mini-van and suv (soccer mom) route, all the while yearning for my Acura. When I saw the RX-8, I had to have it. Waited for '05 model...got it in black...LOVE IT!! Super easy to shift. I'm getting ready to teach my 17 yr old daughter. You should try it, becomes second nature quickly and is so much more responsive. So far, no problems at all and lots of looks and head turning. I now make up reasons to run to the grocery, etc!! ;)

I wouldn't even think of owning this car in an auto tranny. It's super easy to shift - find someone to show you the basics and the rest is all trial and error. I hadn't driven a manual for about 4 years when I bought my 8 and every different car takes some getting used to. Hey, i was curious as to what "RDR" meant as well.

My post # 711 outlined some of the options and the price they quoted me for each. I haven't been there or talked to them since (I try to stay away - I've spent all my money on 8 accessories...), but I'm willing to bet they still have some. baptistandy...they might be a good source for you as well. some of the cars were fairly nicely equipped. Mine is a MT with sport, no leather, no sunroof, does have a navigation, I got it out the door for $21K. They ARE dealing on these cars and they were super to work with. Look back at post # 711. My bet is that those numbers are not bottom dollar either!!
