Just signed my paperwork today. Used the edmunds.com emailer and then negotiated with the 2 lowest via email. 2008.5 Mazda3 Sedan Automatic S Touring Moonroof/6CD/mp3 Metro Grey MSRP $21,015 Deal was done in 3 emails and a trip today to sign the paperwork that took about 20 minutes. $19,683 + 6% tax $1190.31, new tags/registration/fees $154.62 = $21,028 OTD. Financing thru my company's credit union for 3.99% x 60 months. Worked with Young VW-Mazda in Easton, PA and was very pleased with their Internet Manager. I gave up on my local dealer (Scott Mazda-Volvo in Allentown, PA) when they tried to play games that I didn't appreciate, ie. "You have to come in to get the best deal, the price is only good today until 4pm, Edmunds' TMV prices are always too low," etc.etc. Even if Scott's was willing to match or beat the deal, I figured I didn't want to reward bad behavior with a sale. I went with Young also because they treated me like a human being and didn't pressure me after I requested the quote. Another dealer literally called me 7 times the first day to 'make sure I'd gotten and understood' his email, then had his manager email. I know I could have held out for lower given the 2009's coming out soon, but I was happy with the price and very happy with the dealer. Thanks for the help, Iz

If that is a msrp 20800 (manufacturers sticker price) or so car 1000 off isn't much. We're talking about the low 18's or better in that case. Good luck --jjf Hi, all. Looking for feedback please! My Experience in Buying a 2004 Mazda 6

Here's my experience in buying a 2004 Mazda 6 in the Eastern PA. in late September 2004. I wanted a basic car with few options. I realized the 4 door had an invoice price that was about $1,600 less than the 5 door, and the 4 door had 6 inches more of rear headroom. The 4 door still has folding rear seats to carry long items. I went to the www.mazdausa.com website and looked at the inventory of area dealers. This inventory list may be slightly out of date, but it was still useful. I contacted the dealers through email, hoping to not have to travel to each one, but each one really would only deal in person. The first dealer (Tom Masano Mazda in Reading PA) had a car that was close to what I wanted. I told them I was going to 2 other dealers. They then gave me a good price, which was about $200 over invoice - before rebate. I went to the second dealer (Young Mazda in Easton PA) and they wouldn't even match that offer. The 3rd dealer was Allentown Mazda in Allentown PA, which was a very pleasant experience. They didn't have a car close to what I was looking for. However, they immediately offered to find any car I wanted and they would drive out and get it for $350 over invoice - before rebate. That surprised me because that simply covers the cost of the transport. As a result, I received a car with just the right options and the right color. The dealer that they obtained the car from in Timonium MD had been trying to charge $995.95 over invoice for dealer prep, stripe decals, rubber door guards and tire locks. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay anything for those items. --- Mazda dealers get 2% of the price of all cars back from Mazda as a "holdback". This is a source of their profits, in addition to high mark up on the better trade-ins. I was told by the dealer that they only get the full amount if they get high ratings in customer satisfaction services. If their ratings are lower, they get less back. So the dealer begged me to give them all "10s" to thank them for their service. --- I made sure I told each dealer that I only wanted to talk "out the door" price - not monthly payments. That made it much easier to compare dealers, and avoid last-minute fees. Allentown Mazda was then able to match the best new auto loan rate that I had found on the net from www.capitalone.com. ---- When people are discussing prices on this site, I suggest they look up the invoice price on this website, and then talk about the price offered over that invoice. Remember to include destination charge, which the dealer must pay 100%.
P5 Prices in Eastern PA?

I visited a dealer in Allentown, PA who had a base (No options) P5, white, M5 tranny. Price was MSRP 17415.00 - 915.00 disc = 16,500.00 - 2,500.00 = 14,000.00. I thought the 915.00 was a rather cheesey discount considering they had only 4 or 5 P5's left and a lot full of new M3's. I was figuring on about 13,000.00 but the dealer says "No way." 915.00 was as low as he could go. So we shook hands and I departed. TMV after 2,500.00 customer cash is 13,041.00. Anyone with recent P5 buying experience in this neck of the woods?
