Nice looking new, but it seems most of the older ones I see have rusted right through the lower body panels and around fenders. Being good off road is nice; not leaving a rust trail on the road behind you - priceless.... (at least at resale time) (My Dodge trucks lasting 10-15 years each, before I got an Explorer, and the Explorer at 5 years - no rust defects at all).
Re: Bought manual 5 in So. Florida [pcantore]

Hi pcantore, We bought the car from Palm Beach Mazda on Military Trail in West Palm. The price of $16,989 DID include destination charge. Dealership honored the 3.9% 60 month financing promotion. In addition we received $500 in gas cards on top of the deal. We picked up the car tonight; it was swapped from Ed Morse in New Port Ritchy. Palm Beach Mazda could not have been better. The copper red/cloth sand 5 speed manual car came through with pin striping, side and rim guards. No extra charge for 200 mile delivery or unexpected extras. Palm Beach Mazda was a pleasure every step of the way. Hope I will continue to be as happy with the car as I am with the dealer.
A nice van for a nicer price.

My wife and i purchased a MPV LX at norco mitsubishi / mazda in norco, ca in june of 2007 for $ 14,800 brand new, the dealer was having an inventory reduction sale. We decide to get the bronze mist metallic color. we decided not to get any upgrades because in the future we plan on having a dvd player installed at a local stereo shop, the dealer said that item would of been about a $2500 option and the salesman told us to get our own installed and save some money,,i never heard of a salesman who didn't try and sell an upgrade, the only two items i purchased at the time of purchase were the factory shop manual and the black plastic trim strip that goes on the top of the rear bumper,as of this post we have about 10k miles on the van and it is runnig very well, i have changed the oil 3 times using factory filters and castrol oil. we have driven the van from riverside county to san francisco and back 4 times and have averaged from 27 to 24 mpg highway and 24 to 21 city mpg This is our first mazda and if this van turns out to be a good running dependable car we just may buy another mazda in the future. Our van has the 3.0 liter v-6 engine and 4 speed automatic with overdrive. The van runs 2600 rpm @ 70 mph. Happy trails to you.
Re: Thinking CX-7, READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY SAVE $$$$ [aviboy97]

Thanks, the CX-7 is nice. The gas mileage is getting better as well, got around 22 mpg out of it with the last tank. I think the dealership is partly to blame with the GM vehicle, they can't come up with a paper trail for the warranty replacement transmission, pretty sure they rebuilt it from extremely worn parts, possibly junk parts considering the amount of metal fatigue on some of the internal parts of the last transmission. The after market rebuild with new parts seems to be doing really well.. so far :)
Moving fast! [widow1]

Took delivery late September. Now I'm getting out of the Mazda game. Bought both as a second driver for the wife and I. Have driven the '06 sparingly - have only 2k on the odometer - but love the torquey 2.3 liter though I was not displeased with the 2 liter in the '04. Now my driving needs have changed drastically and I will be doing a lot of traveling. So the Mazda is on the block and I'm replacing it with a fuel sipping VW Jetta TDI. Wow! Selling within 5 months and 2K miles! Depreciation costs can be staggering (20% to 25% for initial year on compacts). Consumer Reports rated the Mazda3 manual in its top compacts for fuel economy so it's a bit surprising that you mention "fuel sipping VW Jetta TDI" as the reason to move from Mazda. The new Jetta is a very handsome vehicle. Happy trails with the Jetta!
Why I bought the Accord instead
by khy1316 on Mon Sep 01 12:53:45 PDT 2003
I had my eyes on a yellow 6 with V6, manual, and the sport package. I test drove the 6, Accord Coupe V6 manual, Altima, and Maxima. Hated the Nissans. The 6 and Accord had what I was looking for, but due to 6's lower price was my first chose. Offered the dealer (Mazda in Austin Texas, both are owned by same dealership) 4% over invoice and 3K for trade in. First they offered to sell a version without sport package to my offer and only $1250 for my car, and when I insisted on the sport package they initially said MSRP. I rejected and they lower by $500. This went on two more time. After two hrs I was fed up so left. In my car, starting the engine, the sales guy runs out with someone trailing. The second guys acts like his inspecting my car (by the way all he did was look at the front) whisper something to saleguy. The saleguy said that was the manager and the final was $13,500 for car with $2600 for trade in. Its a great offer but I was sick of these guys and left. Next day went to Honda dealer who's right around the corner from the Mazda. Offered them 4% over invoice and $2600 for my car. The salesguy left return less than a minute and said I bought the car. No fuss even though this was the only V6 with M6 tranny they had. This was such a great experience they now have a customer for life.
