So basically it's as you said, you ended up paying $23714 for a Mazda6 I-4 Touring w/conv. pkg. That is not a bad deal but as I said it does matter what area of the country you live. Mazda6 can be had somewhat cheaper in major midwest cities vs the NE. So a good deal in the NE would not be that great of a deal in Chicago. A lot of it has to do with the number of Mazda dealers in close proximity. Anyway, you've bought the car, took delivery and there is nothing you can do now but either cry in your beer thinking that you may have gotten maybe another $500 off or move on and enjoy your new wheels. I would choose enjoying my new ride.
Re: auto dim mirror clarification [robjamell]

No. The standard back mirror has neither. It is an accessory that one can have it installed at port and delivered to the dealer (accessories are NOT installed by Mazda, they are done at the entry port). One can also buy the kit and install it oneself (like me). Try mazdaparts.org for best price. The installation is about 30 minutes. It is slightly more involved than the roof rail. There are many different combinations of autodimming, Homelink, compass. Again, go to mazdaparts.org (click on CX9 tab, and then, electronics). Each model needs an installation kit (the kit must matches the model you buy). If your vehicle come with rain-sensing (I assume it is GT), then, you would need a kit that can accommodate rain sensor, which is next to the back mirror. Auto-dimming: (run on switch 12V). It dims down the mirror when the difference of lighting between front and back is big. It can go very very dark to avoid glare. Homelink: It can learn the codes (jumping or not) of your garage openers so that you don't need to carry then anymore. The Homelink runs on constant 12V (not switched - i.e. engine power needs not be on) Compass: some models of back mirrors also have an electronic compass (show 8 directions, N, S, W, E, SE, SW, NE, NW). Rain sensing: the sensor to activate wipers is located at the root of back mirror. Other than that, it has nothing to do with back mirror. I hope this helps you a bit.
NE Ohio Pricing
by des5 on Tue Sep 09 06:02:43 PDT 2008
Been pricing the dealers around Cleveland, and situation looks like this: 3500 "dealer engagement" + 500 loyalty (must own a Mazda) + 800 secret spiff this month only = 4800 maximum below invoice discounts. I found they won't give up all the spiff, more like 0 - 600 of it, which is greedy since they used to sell at invoice and live on the holdback which they're still getting. The MSRP-to-invoice spread is 1500-1800 depending on trim, so in total 6K off sticker is realistic. BTW advert assessment around here is 209.

My research indicates that Mazda is kicking back ~$4000 in lieu of the low-interest financing. Add to that the sticker-to-invoice spread of 1500-1800 depending on model, plus the spread on options and you get discounts of 5500 to over 6000. Naturally, there are some dealers advertising their CX7s $500 higher (and more), to rip those who don't do their homework. When I get serious in the next couple of weeks, I'll be shooting for 11-12K off sticker with my trade ('01 Montana). About fuel, my impression is the '08 model was changed to make regular officially permissible, although premium is still recommended. Reduced performance with regular is expected. BTW, there is a dealer here (NE Ohio) that still has three new '07s on the lot. Maybe they're starting a museum!

pearliegirl, first of all, - congrats on your new ride. Would you mind sharing the name of the dealership with us... I am just curious because the deal Metro gave me (a print out of the email with concrete car stock number and photo of the actual car) was laughed at by Quirk, Wellesley Mazda and Mazda Gallery in Norwood. The manager from Gallery even insisted I'd buy from Metro Mazda thinking their deal was bogus (actually I thought it was bogus until the moment I left the dealer on my new car). Boy the guy was pissed when I emailed him and thanked him for his time. The Mazda Gallery still insisted a '08 Touring with not a single option for $26,500 was a greatest deal in NE. Metro Mazda/Ford indeed seems like a brand new dealership that seems to actively looking to attract a new customers.
