**I did ask for advice BEFORE I purchased, but didn't really get any reply's. I was still curious how I did after my purchase. I love the car so far and that is what really matters. I understand what you were saying about purchasing in June/July, but a Mazda 3 hatch with a manual trans and with the ABS and moon roof packages has been kind of hard to find in my area. This is especially so if you want a certain color. I live in a suburb of Detroit. Dealers are not over anxious to deal with you when they do not even have the car in stock and when the cars are moving so well. I ALSO USED THE GERBER REBATE WHICH EXPIRES IN JULY. I don't know how much of a price break I would get on a 2005 if I would have waited until Sept. or Oct. but I don't think it would be too much. I would not have been able to get the Gerver Rebate and I probably would not have been able to get the exact car I wanted or I would end up purchasing a car that had sat on a lot and had been test driven by every curious teenager in the neighborhood that wanted a stick shift. All in all I got the car for $17,762 and that is with TTL (out the door). The MSRP on this car is $19355. I don't think I could have done much better than that in Sept. or Oct. Oh, and don't forget that last year, from what I experienced, there were no great deals on the 2004's when the 2005's came out. Like you said, it is time to just enjoy the car and THAT I AM DOING!! Fun car! Thanks.

Just talked to a dealer and they told me that I would have to pay tax, title and Detroit assesment, and other fee's??? What?? What exactly should I expect to pay after getting a quote on a car?? I live in MI and did not expect to pay all these fee's am I being conned? MKV: you said the S-plan price should be 17,439 for the Mazda 3 with ABS and Moonroof packages. Will dealers go lower than this?? I had one dealer offer me the car for $17300, but I think they may just be trying to get me in to sway me with some other offer. I have another dealer that thinks anything close to 17,000 or 17, 500 is undoable. A dealer told me they have a $500 rebate until the end of the month on the S-plan, anyone else heard of this? Also please someone let me know if I can use the Gerber rebate on top of the S-plan price of $17439 or whatever it is?
