Buying a car from a Mazda Car Dealer
Hi All, I just pick up my newly lease of white mica 2010 CX-9 Touring AWD (with Sand leather, Bose, In Dash 6 CDs changer, 6 months free Sirius Radio, Power heated seats of driver and passenger, Backup Camera, Remote Starter, Sunroof, Power lift trunk) on 9/30/2010 (end of quarter so the Sales guy really wanted to close the deal... and I keep pushing him to give me some freebies successfully such as All weather mats (cost $150 value) as I live in Boston and it will have snow.) I think I got a good deal, but I just want to share my info with all of you to see if you agree? It is a 42 months lease, 10K miles/year, the MSRP of this car is $36,466 with all the nice options. My monthly rental fee before MA tax is $359/month (+$22 tax). So in total out of my pocket when I picked up the car was around $1,450 including all the acquisition fees, first month rental fee, titles, dealer fees, Mazda $1000 incentive (by the way I didn't have the $500 as this is my first Mazda). I didn't really care about the residual value as I know that I will not take the car after the 3 1/2 years lease. What do you think? Thanks Chuchumouth
$35500 is too high for a GT without nav. It is almost July, end of the month and they should be quoting well below invoice. The price you were quoted assuming it includes all their dealer fees etc would be about right if the vehicle had the nav package as well. I believe Edmund's shows you when there is an extra dealer incentive involved in their TMV pricing. I will say though that Wellesley Mazda is probably the best of the Boston area dealers based on my experience. Buy it elsewhere and take it to them for service.
$35500 is way to high for a GT AWD without NAV. Most GT come with pre-installed optional NAV. I am not in the Boston area. I am in the CA Bay Area. But I don't think the area affect price that much. I got my 2010 GT AWD with NAV, moonroof and bose and power hatch for $35550 plus tax and licence and no fee. The MSRP for the car was about $40K ( on the sticker, there was additional markup of $4000, total sticker price was $44000) and the invoice price was $36050. And I aso got 0 percent finance for 60 months. Also, I did traded in my 2005 subaru WRX with 70K miles for $10K.
We are looking at CX-9 GT AWD, Black, Sand Leather, Moonroof and bose package which also comes with the power hatch, and there is a roof rack. Looking for the 0% financing. $37,870 MSRP (includes $750 destination fee, not boston fee) $34,887 Invoice (includes $750 destination fee not boston fee) $34,115 True Market Value via Edmmonds (includes $750 destination fee not boston fee) Also on the dealer invoice is an additional $428 for Boston (advertising fees) The best deal the dealer in Wellseley told us he could do yesterday was $35,500 for the vehicle. (plus we are still negotiating on our trade in) He said he could not go under invoice with 0% financing. And the TMV and under invoice is due to the $1000 dealer cash and you can't combine both offers. Although I have seen in this message board people getting below invoice and 0%. The the dealer also has $444 in doc fee which includes $249 for paperwork, gas ect. plus $195 which goes to the sales man (they don't make commission they get a flat $195 from each sale). Hubby and I don't feel as though we should have to pay the $195. We are heading to the Mazda in Lowell today they have a similar vehicle to compare. Thoughts is $35,500 a good deal in our area? And $444 on doc fees? Thanks for any advice and help! This board has been a great resource. Mr. and Mrs. S
I just purchased a liquid silver 2010 CX-9 Touring AWD w/All weather mats, roof rails and remote start. I was able to obtain a pin for the S-plan program, which really made things simple. With this plan, I was able to pay invoice (dealer cost not including holdback) for any car a dealer had on the lot (could not find a car elsewhere on this plan). I ended up paying the following: $30901 for the car (includes a $100 dollar fee for a runner to move my registration docs as I Iive in VT but purchased near Boston at Quirk Imports) $1000 trade on '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee (above Kelly blue book trade- in value by ~$200) $62 registration $299 doc fee $1794.06 tax OTD price: $32056.06 (I took 60 month 0% financing, so the $1000 cash incentive could not be combined). For what it's worth, before I had the pin, I emailed 12 dealers in VT, NH, and MA for price quotes. Only three replied to me (I had specificied the exact car I was looking for in terms of trim, options, and color). Very dissappointing. Of the dealers that responded, two of them came in exactly $1000 over invoice and would not budge from there (the third was $2K over invoice). The only other difference was in the doc fee (ranged from 50 to 300). I don't think Mazda is having trouble selling these cars in the Northeast (North of Boston anyway) and if you can get a car around invoice you are doing well. I ended up going with the out of state dealer as they were the closest one with CX-9s matching our needs. In fact, only one CX-9 was found at both the VT dealers. Out here, I would be suprised if you could get them at invoice (you'd need a dealer with lots of inventory), but to get them to also cough up their holdback would be truly impressive. Bottom line for me is I got a great car at invoice and couldn't be happier to be done with the experience (I hate the buying process...I'm glad I only do it once every six years or so). Good luck to all as you shop around. Zoom-Zoom
