I went with the standard options. They put wheel locks on all cars so that's an added $50. The window msrp was $18180. I requested offers from Va (northern Va, Richmond, Fredericksburg) , College Park, Owings Mills and Frederick MD. I solicited enough dealerships IMHO to feel I got a good deal for this area. I found Fitzmall to be a good starting point. No dealer could beat them (without a hassle) until Ourisman underbid them significantly. If you decide to go to Ourisman make sure you deal with Ben Stark and mention my name (if you feel like it ;) ) I get something for sending them business...forget what it was now.

Do not restrict yourself to just $1K under invoice, there's lots left for the dealer to bargain off of. In Harford County, MD I recently (April, 2008) purchased an '08 awd GT for $5,600 below list, $250 document fees, and no additional fees of any type. The vehicle msrp was $40,540 with options like sunroof, bose, GT assist, remote start, a/w mats, splash guards, autodim/homelink, etc.. The vehicle had 4 miles on it. If you do the math, that's more than $2K under invoice. Also, watch Mazda when they present you with the factory invoice. There are actually two invoices, a true invoice, and the one the dealer likes to show you (the one with nearly $400 of dealer advertising factored in. To me, that is not true invoice. Under true invoice, the deal amounted to more like $2.5K under invoice. Don't be afraid to tell them where you need to be "on the road", as long as the figure is realistic. Good luck!
Got my Mazda 3 finally!!!

Made what I think was a fantastic score after researching and taking bids for two month I saved $1000 less than my next closest offer in my area. I got a auto i touring value edition (yes, the newer version) for $17254 OTD! I don't have the exact figures but this is close enough to give you an idea. tags - $230 taxes $950 processing $100 Ben Starke at Ourisman Mazda in Laurel MD came in with the lowest offer without knowing my other 10 or so offers. He promised he would not hassle me trying to increase the price and make the transaction quick and painless. I went totally expecting it to fail but he totally kept to his word. Great personality and knew the vehicle. I didn't feel pressured (other than my own cautiousness that he would pull something which he didn't ;) ) I only go to the trouble to write this because of al the hassles I received from other dealers while shopping. So he deserves the credit. I know who Im checking with first for my next car.
Re: Help - Touring MSRP vs. Invoice pricing on Navigation System option [kyfdx]

Nope, it was an '08. And I've been looking at several '08 window stickers with the Navigation system as well (just don't have them here in front of me for the MSRP). Thanks for the prior year info - that I can definitely use as a basis for estimating the current year prices. I hadn't thoght of checking the '07 pricing. Marshella
Help - Touring MSRP vs. Invoice pricing on Navigation System option
by marshella on Fri Dec 28 17:49:27 PST 2007
Edmunds.com does not on it's pricing options list for the Touring the cost or MSRP for the navigation system. It is standard on the Grand Touring, but not seen as an option on both the Sport or Touring (even in literature /sales brochure from Mazda). However, I've test drove a Touring so equipped and have seen some others. I'm going tomorrow to try and negotiate a fair price on a Touring with this Navigation system - and want to know the invoice cost. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.... Marshella in Baltimore

I'm pretty sure that MD is 5% on the selling price.. But, at that monthly price, I'd buy the car.. You'd get the same payment over 60 months, more or less.. Unless you are upside-down on a trade, that price seems way out of line... :surprise:
