Buying a car from a Mazda Car Dealer
We need some additional to determine whether $19,400 is a good deal…or not. Are you looking at the i Touring 5-door with Automatic or Manual Transmission? Does it have any options? Is $19,400 the price before sales tax & tag/title fees or does it include those? Where are you located (state)? Incentives and pricing vary by location…. Just as an example, the best price in my area (Atlanta, GA) for the i Touring 5-door Automatic is around $18,450.
Anyone have any luck on buying the 2012 MZ3 i Sport Automatic in September? Lowest offer in the Atlanta, GA area was $18227 OTD (new tag and everything). Should I take this deal or can I get it lower?
I noticed the "woodstock" in your user name and wondered if it Woodtock, GA...I'm a Cherokee County native, born and raised, I live up in the northwest corner of the county in Waleska, several miles beyond Reinhardt College. I moved away for about 7 years, if you consider Vinings as "moving away"! =) I knew for certain that you had to live in Cherokee (or Cobb) based on the 6% sales tax rate. We're the only two counties north of Atlanta that aren't 7%...lucky us! I took a look at the 2010 Mazda3 5-door inventory in the Atlanta area and it looks like this car is at Jim Ellis in Marietta....correct? There are only five 2010 5-door Grand Touring 6MT models in the state. Two of them are IDENTICAL- Velocity Red MIca, Bose/Moonroof Pkg, Technology Pkg- sticker price of $25,485. One is at Jim Ellis in Marietta and the other is at Moss Robertson Cadillac-Mazda in Gainesville. You might want to send them and email for a quote just to see what they might offer...if they go lower, you could either buy from them or get Jim Ellis to match it...just thought I'd mention that. The Velocity Red looks awesome with the black grille and trim on the front- UGA colors! I have a Titanium Gray 2006 Mazda3 s 5-door with Black & Red checked cloth interior. I've always called it my UGA interior. =) Back in 12/05 when I was shopping for my Mazda, it wasn't easy tracking down one with the right colors/options/transmission and when you did, dealers weren't willing to discount them very much! I ended up going to Knoxville, TN to buy mine! Let me double check the current incentives and a few other things and I'll get back to you very shortly.....
It's almost impossible to offer an opinion on the OTD price you mention without some additional info.... While OTD (out-the-door) price is the bottom line, the car's actual price (before tax, tag/registration, title and any fees) is necessary to evaluate just how good the deal is! Sales tax varies greatly from state to state and it alone can make a difference of $1000+ on a $20,000 car (if the tax rate varies by 5% or more)! To a a lesser degree, the tag, title and other fees (if any) can also vary by location. Do you know what the price of the car is before the tax, tag and title? If not, what is the tax rate in your location for new cars? And where are you located? Car prices can fluctuate significantly from one region to another. For the record, the 0% APR Financing is available on cars purchased from dealer stock before 6/30/10, so there's about 10 days left before it expires. Using my geographic area (Atlanta, GA), I'm seeing a price of $24,465 - $24,682 plus tax, tag and title. The price range is based on TrueCar.com's "Lowest Certified Price", Edmunds True Market Value (TMV) and CarsDirect.com's guaranteed price. I live in a county with a 6% sales tax rate, which would make the total at least $25,933. With tag and title, my OTD the price would be just under $26,300. These figures are all based on a 2010 Mazda3 s 5-door Grand Touring, Automatic with Bose/Moonroof Package and Technology Package with an MSRP of $26,285.
mazdaduck..thank you for the great advice. I have only visited 2 (Roswell and Mall of GA) to negotiate and I have been trying to get solid quotes from all the other dealerships on the northside over phone/email but it has been a real struggle to even get some of them to reply. I am going to start "pounding the pavement" today and end with the dealership that has the exact CX9 my wife wants and the largest inventory (28 Ts and GTs) by Friday.
