Two days ago, I bought the car you first described in black, with the optional abs package. My out-the-door price was $16,896, and I had a trade in, so I ended up paying 400 less. I don't have the price breakdown in front of me this very second but I can post that later. I don't know where in the country you're located, but anyone near Lakeland, FL should absolutely check out Lakeland Automall. Ask for Reggie McNeal. He truly played no games and was incredibly fair. Aside from that, I was fielding offers all day and may or may not have been able to get an even better deal than that, but after dealing with Toyota for two months and getting the run around, I ended up in a position where I absolutely needed to buy because my car was all but dead--so I made a decision and drove to Lakeland. DEFINITELY get quotes via the internet, and CALL THEM after the initial quotes, let them know you have better offers, ask if they can beat the others, and request a copy of a purchase order or price breakdown. They'll e-mail you in minutes and you can get the lowest price quickly this way. Good luck!

$17,6K (+tax and tags) for sport (manual) with popular equipment package @ Lakeland Mazda in FL. Price was achieved without any haggling through the internet department and the dealership experience was excellent in every way.

Lakeland Automall is local to me. (Polk County) I've never been to Ferman except by e-mail. The other dealer I referred to was Brandon. I probably can't help too much about dealer service. I buy my vehicles new, keep them a long time, and do all maintenance and repairs myself. My last new car was a '92 626 (very good car, 190k miles). I bought that one at Lakeland Mazda before it was bought out by the Automall. I only had it in for warranty service once for an O2 sensor...no complaints. I shopped the Automall two other times: '98 for a pickup and '00 for my daughter's Focus. We bought elsewhere, but had a very positive impression of Lakeland Automall. I don't know if they are writing deals on '04 cars yet, but I was very pleased with Lakeland Automall. My son and I each bought a car through Jerry. He deals more with Ford than Mazda, but he got me exactly what I wanted and at a very good price. He will deal straight with you. I was much more impressed there than with the other dealer near you.
