I started shopping online, with the help of Edmunds.com. After several e-mail and phone calls the online sales rep., Shawn, committed to a specific price. I told him I expect Prime to make money. What I do not expect is to buy a car then find out, via Edmund's TMV, that other people are paying less. When you go into the dealership the online rep is going to hand you off to a floor room sales rep. There seems no way around this. Buying a car is a big deal and even the quickest test drive and accessory explanations is going to take a several hours. And these people have families to feed. Of course they are going to try to sell you other options. As long as you have a firm price before you enter the dealership you should be O.K. I don't know about the other sales reps. but the one that was assigned to me, when I entered the showroom, Brian H., was helpful and low key. My advise is to ask for him before you even get to the dealer.
