READ REVIEW OF ANTWERPEN VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP SERVICE
In Feb. of 2003, my 99 VW was in an accident. My insurance co. wrote an estimate for the repair. I took the car to Antwerpen, where I bought the car, to get it fixed. The estimate called for a new or equal value power steering pump and bracket. According to my insurance co., this bracket also supports the serpentine belt which puts a lot of stress on the bracket and they would never authorize this aluminum part to be welded. Instead of replacing the bracket, Antwerpen VW welded the damaged bracket and replaced the ps pump with one from a junk yard. This is according to my mechanic who repaired my car when the weld finally broke about a month ago when my wife was driving the car. Luckily, she was going slow and was able to get the car off the road and call me. When I saw that the serpentine belt was broken, I called a tow truck to take the car to my mechanic. He looked under the car and saw the broken support bracket and that it had been welded. After replacing the bracket and serpentine belt, he noted on the bill that the repairs were the result of the welded bracket breaking and gave me the old bracket. I took the bracket with the broken weld to Antwerpen VW and showed it to the supervisor of the body shop who told me he couldn't help me because it had been 4 1/2 years since they fixed it. I asket to see his boss. He said that his boss didn't work at that dealership and that he would have him call me. A week and a half later I finally had to go back to the dealership. The GM said he couldn't help me because the part couldn't have broken at the weld. I had to put the part on his desk and show him exactly where it had. He said that he'd give me $100 dollars for the part. About 2 1/2 weeks later I get the check for $100. Bottom line is that Antwerpen VW charged my insurance co. to replace the power steering bracket. Instead they welded it. When the weld finally broke, it cost me $514.45 to get the car fixed right. So if you ever get your car repaired or serviced at Antwerpen VW, you'd better check to see what shortcuts they took and what work they charged you for that they didn't do.
