We purchased a used 2010 Subaru from Heritage Subaru. Our overall experience could have been good except some significant issues we encountered with the dealership. 1. We brought our own financing and notified the salesman of such. After determining the car we wanted, the salesman told us we were required to fill out a form for Patriot Act before we could purchase the car. We questioned the length and amount of information required but the salesman (Harvey) stated that it was a standard form that every person regardless of preapproval had to fill out to verify we weren't terrorists, or something to that effect. When we got to the finance manager's office he had reran our information for a loan based on the form we were fraudulently told was a Patriot Act form. The form was in fact an application request for a loan. The finance manager apologized for the error; however, the mistake, if it was a mistake, should not have happened. We later found out from our bank that all that's required to comply with the Patriot Act is a proof of identification (i.e. our licenses). 2. Length of time- We arrived at Heritage at 12:30 pm and did not leave until 6 pm. We had known it could take a few hours, but however given that we had already researched what car we wanted and brought our own financing this was excessive. It took us 5 1/2 hours to complete the purchase. This is unacceptable. The car itself is exactly what we wanted, was a good price (even came down with some negotiations), with a great warranty, and features. We would purchase another Subaru; however, we would have to evaluate returning to purchase another vehicle from Heritage.
