Re: 2007 MCS from Mini of Universal City, CA [british_rover]

Followup: The dealer quickly located it and provided it to me with apologies. Nice guys again. I have to give the sales crew an 8 of 10: I guess with every other new car purchase(6)there's always been something that they tried to squeeze. The only reason I can't give this dealer a 10 was b/c of the finance guy's (mis)guidance. That all said, this was a (mostly) cash deal, not a lease. $26650 +tx & lic & fees, MCS, 6-spd, w/Sport, Hi-Fi, LDS, Cloth & Color line, Auto AC, rear fogs, white turn sig, Auto dim mirror. No nitrogen air in tires and no dealer added alarm. Not exactly what I wanted, but I'm happy :) .
Texas MINI lease requires additional full sales tax.
by minimac1 on Sat Jul 14 12:30:19 PDT 2007
I recently leased a MINI in San Antonio, TX. Having noticed that some posters to this forum were asking about tax on a lease, I will pass along my experience. The MINI dealer insisted that Texas law requires payment of sales tax on the full car price, and this was added to the advertised lease down payment. Although I got the car anyway, leasing is apparently not a very good deal between "pardners" here in Texas.

tx trigger, do you pay deposit or smth when you place an order? do you apply for financing in advance or after the MINI arrives? I emailed a local dealer (RI) he told me it will arrive in 6-8 weeks. I am thinking about MINI select financing. Any of you guys used it? Is it good idea vs leasing? tx
Does the Mini Cooper plant go on vacation in August?
by bfromhold on Fri Jul 21 10:36:51 PDT 2006
I was told by a dealer in the Northwest area that the Mini Cooper plant in Oxford, England goes on vacation nearly the whole month of August and that's why the delay in delivery of special order MCS. Is this a made up story? A dealer at Moritz in TX says production is slowed but not halted. Who is telling the truth here? :confuse: I ended up emailing the Mini Factory in Oxford directly. Maybe they will set the record straight.

cct1 ~ Thanks for the tip about the cup holder and info on the OEM armrest. Where would I get an after market armrest? How long did you have to wait for your Mini, and where did you get it (City/State)? I just talked with a Mini dealer in TX (one that someone recommended on this forum). They said it'll be about 6 weeks for special order. I can't figure out why it takes so long to get one here in Washington State (15+ months I'm told). Anyway, thanks for your reply...
Re: Buying out of State - Please Help [markjenn]

Hi Mark ~ I also live in Washington State. I just visited the Mini dealer in Tacoma area, and they want $595 over MSRP. Plus they told me it's going to be a 15 month wait now!! :( Also, I was told it'll be a 2007 turbo charged motor in the Mini S (I'm not too keen on turbos). Who did you talk to in TX and what city? Did you get any freebie add-ons (floor mats, arm rest, cup holder, etc.)? I didn't think about checking with a dealer in TX. Do they import them directly there from the Gulf? How many miles is that? I might be able to handle a drive home if it's not too much over 1,500 miles or so... Can someone lead me to a reasonable Mini Dealer with a reasonable waiting time (hopefully 2 months or less)? I'd like to order a new 2006, but I don't want to wait over a year to get it (not to mention pay extra). I've talked with a dealer on the east coast. They offered MSRP and a two month wait, but that's a 3000 mile drive back to home. Any advice out there? Thanks, Brenda
