2012 MINI Countryman Cooper S All 4 by adc2 on Thu Feb 02 10:50:52 PST 2012

Hello Car_Man, We are currently deciding on options and packages and need a helping hand... Would you be able to let me know the MINI Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2012 Mini Countryman Cooper S All4 with 10,000 miles per year for the month of February? Assuming top credit rating in the Mid-Atlantic (Washington DC) area... I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your help!

Car Man, Could you work up a sample lease payment for a 36 month lease, 10k miles/yr for a Washington DC resident for a 2009 (not 2010) Cooper HT (not an S) with a list price of 26,900, a negotiated price of 24,457, and an invoice price of somewhere between 24,200 and 24,400? Thanks!

If your brother can afford almost $700/month, he might as well pay a tad bit more and just buy it. No sense in throwing that much money away on a lease.

If you've already taken a test drive and know what you want, I say order your car to spec from an out-of-state dealer and have it delivered. The wait will be 4 to 8 weeks and delivery would probably be $1000 at worst. Saving $1500 over the CA rip-offs they get away with.

Minimad, I feel sorry for the lack of attention given to you by the dealer. As for the deposit, as I understand it, that's pretty much standard across the board for MINIs. I left a 1K deposit for mine as well. On the flip side of what kyfdx says, I would add that the deposit holds the car for you when it arrives. Suppose you didn't leave a deposit and someone else saw the car right after it arrived at the dealer and decided that they want it right now. You would be out of a car after two months or so of waiting, with no contractual obligation for the dealer to sell to you. Keep in mind that the deposit is refundable, so I think the dealer sees the whole thing as doing you a favor, considering the extreme popularity of MINI and the relatively fast turnaround of non-preordered cars.
