Lexus 460 out of state lease
by jim9921 on Fri Mar 28 12:18:18 PDT 2008
I'm looking to lease an 08 LS460 on for 36 mo/15K miles. I live in Portland, Or where there is only one Lexus dealer so there is no competition and I'm only getting about 5% off MSRP, which seems low, and they are quoting a money rate of .00329, which sounds pretty high. I've read on leasecompare.com that LSF rates have dropped to .00225 with 51% residual. CA dealer are pretty quick to discount 8-11% off MSRP and I assume lease rates would be better. Couple of questions: 1. Is there any reason an out of state buyer could not lease a car from a CA dealer; 2. My understanding is that I would pay CA sales tax only on the portion of the cap cost, and not the full MSRP. 3. I have a 04 430 to trade in which is valued in OR at 25K. Would I be better off using that as a cap reduction or buying down the rate with SD's, or some combination of both. I would like to get my monthly payment as low as possible.

Jezmia, You are correct in I could get the same deal on the basic automatic. The problem is that I feel that it's very important to have a car with Blue Tooth. The only way to get Blue Tooth is to have the Nav. and then if the car has a nav it also has other options included. Also they have very few 250's with the Nav but, lots of the Basic. So they have not been as aggressive in pricing on the Nav car. Actually I have had better offers from three other dealers, just haven't had the time to go yet. Being this is the last week of the month it's probably the right time to really look.

if you are close to fll go to the jm dealer, they have a especial this month for the is250 basic automatic 24m/12k $600 due at signing, $400 a month plus taxes and they cover the 1st month payment. No disposal fee when you return the car. Good luck.
my recent lease

Well I negotiated for my mom's 2008 GS350 AWD with Nav & ML system. MSRP was about $53K, we got the price down to $50K. The MF 0.0015 residual 49% for 3 years at 15K / year. Monthly came out to be $780. Due at signing was 1st month, registration stuff, and some outrageous $600+ in bank fees. I couldn't argue with them to remove the bank fee, they said it's manditory. Probably BS, but we were a lil tired of dealing at that point so we just took the deal. Not sure if yours had AWD, but since we got AWD + ML system and at 15K / year, you probably have some room to negotiate. This is in the Portland Oregon dealer

Where did you acquire this deal? My Portland dealer says for their GS350 AWD MF of 0.00249 , 49% residual on 36 mo @ 15K/yr. MSRP for the one I am looking at is about $53.5K and they won't budge below $50K.
