It's pretty easy to figure out the dealer margins at this point. Build the car with options on one of the various websites that shows you both invoice and MSRP price. Factor in that Lexus (the company, not the dealers) is currently giving a $4000 rebate at the moment, AND that there is currently a Lexus dealer holdback of around $1200... So, there is basically $5200 to play with below invoice price at this juncture, although most dealers will not budge too much on the holdback. Between $2-3K below invoice is a great price, while still allowing some (fair) profit for the dealer. The economy is definitely playing a role, so get 'em while they're hot! One other factor for my purchase was there is little difference with the forthcoming 09 models, unless you are in hunt for a AWD model.
Buying today

IMO, the $4000 off of invoice scenario was likely a one time deal, and probably not easily duplicated in most parts of the country. I'm purchasing today through fleetrates.com. I tried to source locally in Columbus, OH, but their best deal was $9500 off of sticker and it was limited to a gray vehicle. Fleetrates managed to get me the color and the exact options that I wanted: Here's the scoop: LS 460 SWB, Mercury Metallic ML, Nav, Advanced parking Comfort Plus package Intuitive parking assist Lexus Link Power trunk and door closers Preferred accessory package Premium floor mats MSRP: $75,030 Actual: $63,500 which includes home delivery to OH from CA $11,530 off of list or around 18% below MSRP Around $1500 below invoice (delivered), as far as I can tell The cost of delivery was around $1000 (included in actual price), but as mentioned, the deal was still better and I got the exact color/options that I wanted (which was really important to me). I just started the purchase process today, so I cannot yet attest to experience of buying through fleetrates. I can mention that I originally contacted two different sales people within their ranks and didn't get a whole lot of follow up. Yesterday I made another attempt and am working with someone who seems to have their act together. I will give out their name and number upon request. Also, I will update the fleetrate experience as we move this forward. Delivery is supposed to take 7-10 days...
Re: 2009 Lexus RX 350 Deal [lexusking]
by maximafan on Mon Sep 22 01:35:52 PDT 2008
Oh, my lord, please don't tell me the 2010 RX is gonna look like a Mercedes R series!! Talk about a weird-shaped car! Not pretty!! The one picture that I saw a while back certainly didn't bring to mind the Mercedes R series to me. But then again, the car didn't look a whole lot different than the current generation, and it definitely didn't look long enough to have a third-row seat. So I'm not sure how accurate that one was. Has anyone else found more up-to-date photos of the 2010 RX350 anywhere yet??
Re: Is this a good price for outgoing 08 ES?

Yeah...you're right, the Stevens Creek dealership didn't have HID's or park assist...and the Internet manager that I was talking to insisted they don't make them anymore for the western region...oh well. Most other dealers including Magnussens and Putnam had that configuration available. The LS is in a totally different league than the ES...I'd buy an LS any day if I could afford one!
Re: G35 vs IS250
by kingpcgeek on Thu Sep 11 21:20:33 PDT 2008
Reasons I like the G35 over a IS250 #1 is power of course. The extra 102hp makes a huge difference. #2 interior space. The IS is just too tight in the front and back #3 HID's standard #4 XM standard #5 color lcd screen standard for climate, MPG, maint and stereo #6 Bluetooth, iPod interface are included in premium package #7 the analog clock is so much classier then the 1981 style lcd clock in the IS #8 not forced to buy non rotateable minimum $800 to replace every 15k to 20k miles 18" tires on most configurations #9 lets face it, the IS250 is a Chick Car. Oh did I mention 102 more HP for about the same price? FYI with regards to MPG, my wife's IS gets 23mpg and I get 21 mpg with about the same mix of highway & city, of course I punch it a little more then her. I could have waited for the 7 speed. I just leased my latest G35 a month ago and didn't have to turn in my 05 G35 until October. I figured I would be paying $50-$75 a month more when the first G37 sedan came out, so any gas savings would wiped out by the additional payment. I guessed right in leasing in August since with the new lease rates I would have paid $26 more a month for a G35 in September.
