Buying a car from a Lexus Car Dealer

OH Lexus Car Consumer Discussions

Cute story by tbartman on Sun Jul 25 03:09:14 PDT 2010

My car from Watertown MA is on its way to OH as we speak! I thought I'd relay an interesting story ... when I was trying to buy around Cincinnati/Dayton, I couldn't get nearly the deal I was getting from Massachusetts. One saleslady in Dayton was particularly rude, saying that I was lying for claiming I could get the car for what I was getting it for, and implying that everyone else here was lying too about buying below invoice. So once my deal was closed, I e-mailed her the VIN and my purchase price and said (basically) "stick it!" Well, a few days later I had a voicemail from the dealer here in Cincinnati, and he said "You'd better call me, I have some bad news for you about Lexus of Watertown. I think you're going to be unhappy to hear this." I had a brief moment of panic. I called him back, and he said that the dealer in Dayton contacted him and then he looked up my VIN and said "They sold you a car without the nav package, that's why it's so cheap." I told him that I had the window sticker as well as a bill of sale which both listed the nav package/NV, so if the car came without it I certainly had grounds to go after Watertown, and he said "fine". I then went back to look at my e-mail to Dayton an noticed that I mistyped the VIN (the last 6 numbers are one number off from an important date for me, so I typed that instead). Funny that these two dealers a) talked to each other, b) were so concerned about whether I was getting the right car or not, c) didn't make one effort to try to match Watertown's price, and d) are obviously scratching their heads trying to figure out how Watertown is doing it!! I'll post again when I have my car between today (Sunday) and Tuesday.

IS350 lease quote - something seems amiss... by stacy44 on Mon Jun 09 20:39:22 PDT 2008

Dayton, OH - IS350 quote 6/8/08 $43421 MSRP $40190 Cap 55% res MF .00250 36 mth lease, 10K miles / yr State tax 6.5% $0 down, first payment due at signing $693 / month all in Asked if there were any fees built in and was told no. Mentioned MF seemed very high, was told I could get a slightly lower rate if I had a 750+ credit rating. This does not seem like a good deal. Looking for feedback on June MF rates or any other feedback about this quote. Thanks!

Re: ES 350 - Cincinnati OH [dach] by es350buyer on Tue Aug 28 11:12:28 PDT 2007

Dach, I purchased from Lexus Store of Lexington after checking all dealerships throughout the midwest and south (excluding florida). I got an '07 ES 350 PP + Nav package for $37,750 from Lexington as well as getting outstanding service. I had a lower price at Nashville Lexus of $37,500, but it was further from the home and not worth the drive. I spoke with Rob Lowder in Nashville, and he gave me excellent service and I would believe would be willing to knock a little bit more off of that price. In Lexington, I am fairly certain I got them as low as they were willing to go since it is such a small market. Dale Corley from Hennessey Gwinnett in Atlanta had the lowest price in the southeast. He quoted around $37,000, but I wanted to deal with the hometown dealership. His service was excellent as well. I spoke with Louisville, Dayton, Cincy, and a few in Chicago and left unimpressed with their willingness to negotiate. Lexus of Naperville in Illinois wasn't even willing to discuss price over the phone - they better come into the 21st century if they want the business of educated shoppers. For you, I would recommend calling Lexington & Nashville as their service and willingness to negotiate far surpassed other dealerships in the region. If you're willing to go all the way to Atlanta, the price will be even better. Hope that helps.

Pricing in Dayton Ohio by dad_of_four on Thu Mar 24 06:19:19 PST 2005

I am having a hard time getting any type of bids/pricing info here in Dayton, OH. We have only 1 dealer. Edmunds nearest partner is Clevland/Akron. Is it reasonable to expect the Dayton dealer to come close to or match Edmunds TMV pricing? Does Saturn sell Lexus? Help!
