I agree with go_orange on pocketing the equity. Or you can look into putting it in as an MSD which is refundable at end of the lease. When I leased my 2007 RX350, I put in 9 MSDs ($4500) and it lowered my monthly payment by $60. I saved $2160 (60x36 mos) by letting them hold $4500 for 3 years. Just bought out my lease this week, and waiting for the refund of the MSDs.
Los Angeles 2010 ES350+nav+options = $39,200 OTD

We just bought the 2010 ES350 (ext - starfire pear / int - gray): + nav + backup camera + intuitive parking assist + full size spare tire + heated + ventilated front seats + wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob + power rear sunshade + carpet cargo mat + cargo net + wheel locks = $39,200 OTD with 2.9% finance (36 or 60 mos) thru Lexus finance program. The 2.9% finance prog runs from Nov, 2009 thru Jan 14, 2010. This was at Lexus of Glendale in Southern Cal. What do you guys think?

Is there a way to calulate the money factor?
by JohnRussell on Sat Aug 15 11:00:52 PDT 2009
Lexus is running a Golden Opportunity Sales Event for a 2009 Lexus ES350. Listed below is the ad that includes key information pertaining to the lease BUT it does not provide the money factor. I have called multiple Lexus dealers and get the run around when I ask for the money factor. One said .00020 and another said .00040 is being used in this lease. Given this lease promotion description is there a way to calculate the money factor on my own? Looks to me like all of the key details are included in the ad to calculate cap reduction and residual but I just can't get any lease calulator to give me the money factor that Lexus is using in the ad. If you know how to do this please let me know the math you used. I realize that the $389 monthly payment does not include sales tax, document fee, title, etc.. All I want to be able to do is run this basic lease promotion through the Edmunds Lease Calculator in order to come up with the $389 lease payment. Then I can add sales tax, etc, etc.... Here is the Lexus Lease ad: "2009 ES 350 Lease Offer. $389mo 36 mos. $3889 due at signing" The ad footnote goes on to say: "Offer based upon MSRP of $37,710 including delivery, processing, and handling. 36 monthly payments total $14,011. 12,000 miles per year. Lease end purchase option $18,478"

I have to agree with kingpc, you could have done better on options. myself was quoted 495 to do paint shield for front hood and emblems seem high. not picking but here in tx with title, doc fees aprox 240-270.00 total, based on family member on his 4th rx350 series which is in price area. 0.9 % amts to about $600.00 interest over term from what I remember, I would pay off in 24-30 mos so slightly less would be paid, I just did this for daughters civic, 16th b-day present brand new interest @ 1.9 %, she's 18 now about to college 3 hrs away just made last payment for title on the aug 3rd. Just saying different ways to do business, do you keep your 40k in investments for 3 yrs or put capital out for transaction. As long as buyer is happy and dealer is willing....a deal will be made. waiting for color - dark blue ( black saffhire ) to try and do my deal. Good to hear everyone's experienences.
