Re: 2009 ES 350 Price [kingpcgeek]

kingpc, that may be true with certain makes/models but not the case with BMW, LEXUS, etc...simply because they dont have to. Take a look at all the selling price pts on these treads and you will maybe see 1-2 were able to purchase @ inv., and these were early in yr. when economy was in turmoil more than currently. So you can take from the bottom or top to reach price point you're looking to achieve, key being knowing aprox. cost veh. is costing dealer, they are a made for profit Co. Good luck to everyone.
Lease and cosigner

I'm looking to get a Lexus IS250 and will probably go with a used 2007 model (listed at $25K) but my mother's husband has offered to co sign a lease if I wanted to get a 2009 model. With my current credit history (only 3 cards showing with a total credit line of $ 1100.00 and a student loan that is from 1989 and has no lates - another $ 2700 more to go before it's all paid out) I don't think I would be able to qualify for a lease on my own - hence why I am looking to buy a used model. Will having him co sign help at all? Keep in mind that he is currently financing his own car (2008 Honda CRV), is retired, has a nice nest egg from selling their house a couple of years ago and scores are in the high 700's. Thanks for any input. -P.

Salesmen try to make as much as possible and we customers try to spend as less as possible. Period. I have met this great sales guy at one of the local Toyota dealers. He finds the car you want, tells you the invoice price plus a small commission, normally a couple of hundreds or so and gives you a couple of days to think about it. Guess what? he is the top seller in that dealer all the time. He makes the most among his co-workers. I have bought three cars from him and recommended him to 5 friends so far and they all bought their cars from him. Too bad he does not work for Lexus...

yes, i'm in NJ and I think got the $39k quote from Prestige too. they'll probably wait til the last day of the promo and if no one bites at the high price, they'll sell it to their friends at the low price. i guess i should go test drive the MDX. i've heard many good things, but acuras never really did anything for me. however, if it drives well, it maybe enough to convince me b/c I've already had my share of impulsive car shopping and i'm done - although i had lots of fun with those 2 impulsive buys. i test drove the volvo XC90 this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. i actually test drove it to confirm i should cross it off my list, but instead it's back on the list. also test drove the BMW X5 and was hoping i wouldn't like it soo much(i am biased towards bmw) and now that's definitely on the top of my list. can't beat that bmw-handling. but I can't see spending that much money on a new car so i may go used. i did cross the cayenne off my list. test drove a cayenne base although the one I drove might've had issues. i guess i was looking for anything to cross it off my list - the maintenance is too costly. i'm looking for a good quality vehicle at a very discounted price in this economy. a co-worker is also looking for a new subaru, but even subaru is not budging on price. i thought it was a buyer's car market too - what's the deal?! or should i say where are the deals in NJ? i was actually in the market for a used vehicle and this lexus marketing support through me for a loop b/c of the big discount. unfortunately, i found out about it too late. warnock said they were sold out of the 09 RXs a couple weeks ago and didn't have to go anywhere near $11k under list. i'll let you know how i like the MDX. maybe we can go in together and get a deal for two. thanks for posting that info on AWD.

Buy-out at lease end
by socalcpa on Fri Aug 22 10:22:19 PDT 2008
I intend to buy my leased IS 250 when the lease ends in 2 months. When I purcahsed my BMW at the end of its lease, I was able to: 1) turn it in to BMW Financial Services 2) Have a dealer buy it from BMW FS for less then the residual and 3) sell it back to me for the residual. In the process the car was certified for "free" as a CPO (extra warranty) and I got a promo financing rate. I was hoping to get some info on whether Lexus dealers are able to purchase turned-in leased cars from Lexus Financing Company (or whatever the name of this company is) for less then the lease residual to either get a lower price then the residual or extended warranty or promo financing. I contacted 2 fleet managers at local Lexus dealerships but both said that I should just buy the car directly from the Lexus Financing Co. However, I am not sure that they fully understood my question. I'd appreciate any insight on this issue.
