CA Lexus Car Consumer Discussions

to kmont - overmileage by myerslaw on Thu Jun 24 16:27:32 PDT 2010

The cost per mile over the limit is, indeed, pretty steep. I still think it works out a bit better to try to stay with a lower range than a higher yearly limit - and go in early if it seems that you're getting close. While the mileage charge was a bit high, I was elated with a drop of about $6500 from the MSRP and a money factor of .001+ on an RX350 I just leased for my wife. The 60% residual is what truly made the deal wonderful. (Liked the Audi Q5 a lot -- but 43% residual???). 3 yrs, 12K/year. Lexus of Westminster, CA.

Re: 2010 Lexus GS350 RWD Lease Rates / Money Factor [Car_man] by myerslaw on Wed Dec 16 16:56:43 PST 2009

I'm amazed at the residual!!!!!!! In the past, they have hovered at 50% or less after 3 years, making it completely impractical to lease ---- at least compared to Mercedes. Guess Lexus wants to get back into leasing, after all, and isn't worried about what to do with the returns. A real sea change.

Not sure if I will purchase in Chicago now; have you thought of purchasing out of state and shipping it? I keep seeing these great deals from the west coast, so was thinking of trying that out. I came from the LA area, so was thinking of trying out Longo (El Monte, Ca), Newport Lexus, or Riverside (saw an earlier post saying Riverside specializes in out-of-state sales).

Re: Lexus dealership services, 2010 [mck28] by wstreet on Tue Nov 24 23:17:57 PST 2009

mck28 - I've been working via the net with a Lexus dealership in Riverside, CA, on a RX450h and so far they have the best out-the-door pricing (and let me tell ya, it's a LOT harder to find deals on the RX450h than on the RX350!). Turns out that Lexus of Riverside also specializes in out-of-state sales and shipments - and, since they are in the top tier of So.Cal dealers that discount, that's a hard-to-beat combo for your Houston situation. I've leased a RX300 and then a RX330 from their Internet Dept and probably will pull the trigger again on a 450h before this year is gonzo. So I suggest you contact them for a quote and see how the delivered price compares to your local deals - Good luck and let us know!

Buying experience in Southern CA. by hsmyers2002 on Tue Aug 04 13:39:30 PDT 2009

I took delivery of a 2010 RX 350 today from Longo Lexus (CA). I’ve been watching this site for a while, so I thought I’d share my buying experience: Car: 2010 Lexus RX 350 FWD Options: NV, PM, CP, FT, WU, EK, wheel locks, cargo mat and net Color: Misty Granite Mica with black leather MSRP: $45,847 Lexus invoice: $41,432 Edmunds invoice: $40,328 (est. for locks, cargo mat and net) Sales price: $40,799 ($5,048 off MSRP, $633 under Lexus invoice) Sales tax: $3,570 Registration: $556 Document fee: $55 Out the door: $44,980 The Lexus and Edmunds invoice prices differ because Lexus includes Dealer Holdback ($736), and Wholesale Financial Reserve ($368) in their invoice price. These items are rebated back from Lexus to the dealer after the sale. The Edmunds invoice price doesn’t include these items, making it more like a “dealer cost” figure. I waited until 4 days before the end of the month and sent requests for quotes to Longo (El Monte), Crown (Ontario), Park Place (Mission Viejo) and Riverside. I explained I was a cash buyer, with no trade in, and was looking to purchase immediately. Park Place quoted $41,432 (Lexus invoice), Crown quoted about $500 over invoice, and Riverside quoted about $1100 over invoice. Longo asked me to name my price. Within a couple of days Park Place had dropped their price down to $41,232 ($200 under Lexus invoice), Crown had dropped their price to a few dollars over invoice, and Riverside had said they would beat any quote by $100. Longo had still not quoted me a price. I gave them my best price, and asked if they could beat that. They quoted me $40,799, but said I would have to wait a few days for delivery. This was over $400 better than my best quote, so I took the deal. All negotiations were handled via email. I felt all 4 dealerships were easy to work with, and would recommend any of them. Even though I purchased from Longo, I have purchased from Crown in the past. Some advantages of Longo Lexus: 1. They will deliver the car to your door (I live 45 miles from them). 2. They will pick up and return your car via flatbed tow truck for service. 3. For simple oil changes, they will send a mobile lube truck to perform service at your home or office (they charge $30 extra for this). This was a pain free purchase. I saved about $5000 while the dealer made about $500 (plus any end of the month incentives). Based on following this board, this was about $500 better than had I expected to do. Thanks to all of you who have posted your transaction details in the past.
