Buying a car from a Lexus Car Dealer

CA Lexus Car Consumer Discussions

Re: $1K under MSRP [pp2009pp] by closenough on Thu Aug 20 08:01:03 PDT 2009

I did exactly that back in 2003 on a 2004 RX. No price negotiation back then on the east coast. Lot's of dealers and heavy competition out west. RX was shipped from CA to NJ for around $800, 4 to 5 weeks. Certificate of Origin was Fedex'd to me. I went to motor vehicle and paid local tax. No California tax was paid. Good luck!

Re: Buying experience in Southern CA. [hsmyers2002] by kyfdx on Tue Aug 04 16:14:49 PDT 2009

Actually, the Edmunds invoice does include Holdback and Wholesale Financial Reserve... They just build it into the base invoice price, instead of breaking it out.. What the Edmunds invoice doesn't include are any advertising fees, as those vary by location... Also, any distributor fees, such as those charged in the South East and Gulf States regions. regards, kyfdx

Re: West coast - east coast arbitrage [JBO12] by briegel on Tue Dec 09 14:13:12 PST 2008

I did this four years ago with Lexus of Riverside (CA), having my RX 330 shipped up to the Seattle area for about $600 and leasing it through LFS...very smooth transaction! Shipping costs may be more now, and NY is probably 2-3 times the distance, but it may still be a money-saver. The Internet Manager at Lexus of Riverside handled the whole thing...check with him. Other California dealers will probably do the same thing. Good luck!

West coast - east coast arbitrage by JBO12 on Tue Dec 09 09:46:51 PST 2008

Given the large discrepancy between prices of these autos in California and NYC, has anyone explored the idea of buying in CA and sending the car to NYC? What are the costs of shipping/insurance/others that ought to be factored in? Also, what might the implications for someone such as myself who is considering a lease under this scenario given that it would be a car from out of state?

Re: Cash Rebates on New 2009 RX350 [mygoch] by lasers on Fri Dec 05 11:16:25 PST 2008

It is a very good price, now, what options do you have? I paid 41K for RX350 (09 model) with premium package, 18 inch(the larger one) wheel, navigation /back up camera, the blue tooth, all leather, breakwater metallic color. I am at north east ohio, so I cannot bargain too much at all. There are only to dealers within 75 miles, unlike southern CA. I got this price after somebody introduced me to the sales manager. 2500 down, 3yrs lease at 470 a month. Fair price. I leased it because there is 2010 450H (300 hp total) right around the corner. Once I got a good conversation with the Lexus owner , he is willing to agree my proposed price, any amount. But, remember the sales persons, the service people, janiotrs,... need hand to mouth living too, yes, for their family. If you are fair you will drive out the dealer with a clear conscience in your mind and quite happy and proud within yourself. This is more important above anything. You may get at 35K, but we need to think about fairness and to get these people employed. Bon chance pour votre voiture d'achat
