OK thanks. This begs the question "what is your area?" though buuying a vehicle out of state is very difficult for CA residents. Thanks,

Your downpayment was high. $4000 spread over 30 months is effectively adding $133 dollars a month to the lease. So you are up to $533 before tax. But wait, as an investor you will undoubtedly know that you would have most likely received a return if that $4000 was invested over 30 months in say a Fidelity Fund. Over the last two and a half years (30 months) your $4000 would now be work about $6000 in a moderately performing Mutual Fund. So actually if you include the sum you could have made over the next 30 months if you invested the $4k that adds as a cost up to $200 dollars a month. I know I don't need to tell you this because you are an investor. Most other quotes on here from LR include sales tax and "Property Tax". which can be another $80-100 a month in the first year because your quote does not include it.. LR always include all taxes in their quotes, which is often over looked when comparing. So before everyone rushes in and asks for $400 a month leases, in reality, with nothing down, you are probably still talking $670 to $700 per month once everything is accounted for. You got the car you wanted, satisfaction and enjoyment is hard to price. That's the cost of getting a Landrover. It is a "Goods of Ostentation" product. In reality, by lowing the price of the product LR may in fact overall see declining revenue and profit. Mad but possible.
Took me lots of aggravation but finally got a OK lease deal

Same situation I had my heart in an LR2 but my brain told me it did not make financial sense. So before heading out to lease an X3 (5-6K more expensive and almost $200 per month less than the initial LR2 lease quote), I gave it a shot and spent a few exhausting hours with the most reasonable LR dealer I found in my area, until I walked out with a "deal". I'm paying $400+tax per month, 30 month lease on a blue+black interior LR2 w/ lights packg. $4K total down 12K miles per year. Dealer claims they are almost losing money..and I almost believe them...It is still worse than what I was getting at BMW, but within reasonable distance. I love the LR2, but it is car, not an asset... a car is an expense, a liability thus the reason I Lease and invest money in assets. There is someone dumb enough in this forum to assure LR does not need the money. What they need is smarter financial people after spending tons of money in Marketing and building a nice product. Guess what, the product is not complete...without a good price...which also includes competitive financing, they are lacking big time in what could be their best seller ever. Specially considering their previous experience with their entry model in the US. It really seems odd...but then again ..I did get the car I wanted ..almost at the price I wanted(down pay was too high)...so people...there is hope out there!!!
Demand slowing down
by madaaron on Wed Jun 27 20:10:57 PDT 2007
Folks the demand on the RRS is slowing a bit and worse for Land Rover, sales on the LR3 has come to a screeching halt! There are tons of LR dealers in the southwest (i'm in texas but my buddies in AZ and OK are saying the same thing) and they've had to twice delay the arrival of the 2008 RR Sport version cos they can't move the 07 inventory as fast as they'd like. One dealer in Houston is offering about $3k-$4k off his 07 RRS (didn't inquire about the Supercharged)of MSRP so the car comes to about $58k with the lux package b4 tax. The LR3's are just not moving much cos (1) they look very ugly (2) the BMW X5 3.0 is eating up that $40-$50k range and (3) did I mention that they are ugly? The weird part about the RRS is that its really an LR3 with a Range Rover shell..so you look at it and are like OK...I'm paying $15k for the same chasis so that I can mindtrick myself that I'm in a Range Rover??? I was considering it but after lots of research I was like if I'm going to buy it it has to come down a bit (I can't for the life of me understand folks who want the RRS Supercharged..for that price why not get the RR HSE...PEOPLE ITS AN SUV!! it can't possibly be that fast..heck a BMW 3 or 5 would still outshine it. Worse for the Range Rover, Lexus is coming out with the LX570 that's going to mow everyone over...remember, Toyota is unofficially the largest automaker in the world which means they have oogles of cash to ram everyone down if they want to). So here I am liking the RRS with my heart, but I got to think with my head..what I am really paying for? why does their manufacturer warranty not cover brakes unlike BWM when both come to the same price? Why is their extended warranty so generally worded you may not get anything out of it? One thing I've learnt in my car shopping experience is (1) Don't be afraid to walk away (goes with homebuying too)...the dealer wants a sale and you want to buy (2) Use your head and not your heart..what you are really buying is the core and don't get carried away by the aesthetics and flashy gadgets half of which you may never need (3) Don't be greedy...go with what you think is fair: don't pay more than you can afford yet don't be penny wise and pound foolish (4) Never get a brand new model unless its been around for at least 2 yrs....the R&D that goes into a new model is a lot of $$, they need to recover as much as possible upfront with marketing etc so they tell you no incentives, also they always have competition so next year the other guy may try to beat them at their own game AND take their customers, so who do you think wins? YOU DO and finally (5) Not all reviews are accurate and some may be from people taking out their frustration with a dealer on a car they don't know how to operate (always read the manuals), however, if there is one thing from marketing its that unhappy customers talk more than happy ones. So I'm still debating whehter to get a RRS but not having one right now at a price I think is fair is not the end of the world.
Re: lr3 lease [bethr]
by Car_man on Tue Jun 19 03:37:01 PDT 2007
Thanks for the additional information, Beth. OK, so you are interested in leasing an '07 LR3 V8 SE that has an MSRP of $56,100 and a selling price of $52,800. After backing out the $1,730 lease cash that is currently available on this truck, you are getting a dealer discount of around $1,570. This does not strike me as much of a discount on a truck that probably has a spread of nearly $5,000 between its full MSRP and its selling price. I personally would shoot for a lower selling price than this. Make sure to stop by the following discussion to see how much other community members have paid for similar trucks lately: "Land Rover LR3: Prices Paid & Buying Experiences". OK guys great thread and very helpful Couple things off topic before i get into the lease. The dealer here in Dallas told me that if i purchase a car from another dealer I will NOT get a car while my car is being serviced. I own and owned many luxery cars Mercedes/BMW/Porsche and never heard of such a thing before. Is this true? I was also told at the same dealership that a RRS lease for 36 months zero down would cost me about 1200... reading this thread i see that is crazy. Im not idiot but to me this sounded way to high so i left and decided to do some research. I usually buy but i end up loosing since i keep them for 3 years and get something new anyways. 30-36 months $3000 total out of pocket 13-15K miles (really need 15k) I have perfect credit around 750-780 FICO Lease question is: I want to do a 32-36 month lease on a RRS with no more than $3000 out of my pocket including taxes and any first payments up front. The options and prices cut and pasted from rover is as stated: Range Rover Sport HSE Base MSRP $57,250 Colors - Edit Rimini Red $0 Alpaca Seats/Alpaca Carpet $0 Options - Edit Rear Seat Entertainment $2,500 Satellite Radio $400 Personal Telephone Integration $400 Cold Climate Package TOTAL COST: $61850 Can someone please assist me and tell me what I should or shouldnt pay for this car. I would really like to stay in the 850 range taxes and all a month. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
