Re: Land Rover Financing [gillz]
by DonovanG on Wed Jan 14 08:08:19 PST 2009
I'm finally in the market for an LR3. I've been shopping the 2 local dealers this week and found this. (AZ) 8 NEW SE 08's avail. None have navigation, that's an issue. Colors are limited to black or silver. They're quoting $15k off and up to $17k off with a 'wink'. I asked about leasing, was told twice, that leasing is gone. Terms are so terrible it makes no sense. I was quoted financing at 6.25%, 60 months, with Chase who I guess is now the primary source for them given that both dealers under different ownership were talking the same terms. That's for "A" credit. I want a white LR3 with Nav + Bi-xenons. The local dealer did not want to do a search for me as he told me he could not do the discount unless he sells from his own inventory. So, I'm on the horn today to CA and NV dealers looking for that elusive White LR3 I guess. The salesman at one dealership confirmed the 09's will not touch dealer floors until mid summer and less than 1000 of those are even being built. Word was that the 2010 model will be out by August. Anyone believe for a minute they'll be getting anywhere near sticker for a slightly refreshed paint and packaging scheme? I doubt it.
Certified Land Rover

My dealer in Scottsdale AZ (2 locations) has been my source for my last 2 Land Rovers. Last week I was in the market for a new LR2 HSE. Supply at the dealership was low but a 2008 LR2 HSE (loaded $41400) with 4500 miles on it (company loaner) was my choice. In the past and now I have gone for the Certified Vehicle that has the extended 6 year 75000 mile warranty. I made the purchase for $36100. Marv Weide

I am in AZ and also looking for the 08 RRS. The quotes I received last wk were much higher. Would you mind sharing the dealership name and city as it is worth going to CA to get the car based on the quotes you provided. Did you end up leasing your car? Also, if you know what the money factor and residual are could you also share this info. Thanks 30 months $1,137.33 with 12k miles per year $1,179.21 with 15k miles per year $3,600 drive off 36 months $1,202.36 with 12k miles per year $1,235.94 with 15k miles per year $3,600 drive off
Got a new LR 2 Yesterday!!!
by anushka1 on Sat Oct 06 13:27:16 PDT 2007
We just purchased a brand new LR 2. We want to thank everybody for this forum because we learned a lot before going to the dealership. We knew how much other people have paid for it and that gave us an idea about the best price. I have found a dealership through Costco auto buying program that gives big discounts on LR 2. We live in Phoenix AZ and the participating dealership was in Tucson AZ that is about 2 hours away. A sales person has contacted us and told us over the phone that they are going to give us a $3,250 off MSRP on any vehicle we want. So the price on a base LR 2 would be $31,450 which is $524 more then invoice without a delivery charge (MSRP is $34,700). So we took this quote to the dealership by our house where we test drove LR 2 and they matched that price without any hesitation. So we got a Brand new LR2 with 14 miles on it for $31,450 plus taxes and license. We are very excited and pleased with the whole buying experience. So if you do not have a Costco membership it cost only $100 per year but will save you $3,250 on a new car. Best deal ever?
Demand slowing down
by madaaron on Wed Jun 27 20:10:57 PDT 2007
Folks the demand on the RRS is slowing a bit and worse for Land Rover, sales on the LR3 has come to a screeching halt! There are tons of LR dealers in the southwest (i'm in texas but my buddies in AZ and OK are saying the same thing) and they've had to twice delay the arrival of the 2008 RR Sport version cos they can't move the 07 inventory as fast as they'd like. One dealer in Houston is offering about $3k-$4k off his 07 RRS (didn't inquire about the Supercharged)of MSRP so the car comes to about $58k with the lux package b4 tax. The LR3's are just not moving much cos (1) they look very ugly (2) the BMW X5 3.0 is eating up that $40-$50k range and (3) did I mention that they are ugly? The weird part about the RRS is that its really an LR3 with a Range Rover shell..so you look at it and are like OK...I'm paying $15k for the same chasis so that I can mindtrick myself that I'm in a Range Rover??? I was considering it but after lots of research I was like if I'm going to buy it it has to come down a bit (I can't for the life of me understand folks who want the RRS Supercharged..for that price why not get the RR HSE...PEOPLE ITS AN SUV!! it can't possibly be that fast..heck a BMW 3 or 5 would still outshine it. Worse for the Range Rover, Lexus is coming out with the LX570 that's going to mow everyone over...remember, Toyota is unofficially the largest automaker in the world which means they have oogles of cash to ram everyone down if they want to). So here I am liking the RRS with my heart, but I got to think with my head..what I am really paying for? why does their manufacturer warranty not cover brakes unlike BWM when both come to the same price? Why is their extended warranty so generally worded you may not get anything out of it? One thing I've learnt in my car shopping experience is (1) Don't be afraid to walk away (goes with homebuying too)...the dealer wants a sale and you want to buy (2) Use your head and not your heart..what you are really buying is the core and don't get carried away by the aesthetics and flashy gadgets half of which you may never need (3) Don't be greedy...go with what you think is fair: don't pay more than you can afford yet don't be penny wise and pound foolish (4) Never get a brand new model unless its been around for at least 2 yrs....the R&D that goes into a new model is a lot of $$, they need to recover as much as possible upfront with marketing etc so they tell you no incentives, also they always have competition so next year the other guy may try to beat them at their own game AND take their customers, so who do you think wins? YOU DO and finally (5) Not all reviews are accurate and some may be from people taking out their frustration with a dealer on a car they don't know how to operate (always read the manuals), however, if there is one thing from marketing its that unhappy customers talk more than happy ones. So I'm still debating whehter to get a RRS but not having one right now at a price I think is fair is not the end of the world.
What you should be paying..
by stillwaters on Mon Dec 04 14:26:09 PST 2006
I bought my LR3 last month during the $6,000.00 "marketing Support" (In other words, "rebate."). Unfortunately, although I knew there was some sort of rebate going on, I could not get find any info regarding size of rebate, etc. I guessed it had to be about $4,000.00 and shopped accordingly. As a result, I managed to get the LR3 for about $3,500.00 under original "cost," but because of the $6,000.00 in marketing support, the dealer was still able to make over $2,000.00 profit which I feel was not appropriate considering this was at the end of the model year. Great truck though! We LOVE IT! And now that I have vented my frustration, allow me to address your question: A $56,000.00 LR3 cost the dealer about $51,000.00 originally. Subtract the $6,000.00 incentive and the truck now costs the dealer $45,000.00. Add no more than $600.00 extra shipping (CA to AZ), and a $250.00 dealer to dealer doc fee (nobody gets anything for free), and the total now comes to $45,850.00. Add another possible $250.00 local doc fee that in many cases the dealership charges the sales department for (they pass it onto you by charging you $400.00 to $500.00) and the dealer now owes $46,000.00 for the truck. I would give the dealer no more than $1,000.00 profit (since they did have to find it and get it to you), and that results in a total purchase price of $47,000.00 I would pay the dealer no more than $47,000.00 + tax & tags for this vehicle... I hope this helps... Keith
