New Rondo LX base

You could say it was love at 1st sight when I spotted a Rondo in the dealer backlot Nov 06. I though i was a wonderful combo of size, comfort for 4-5 passengers, economy, & safety features for under $20K. Only one problem - we did not a new vehicle! But I have been following the Rondo ever since & just helped a co-worker purchase one. With all the standard equipment the only option she needed was AC. Armed with the MSRP of $17,990 & invoice of $17,100 (AC & floor mats), I called 5 area dealers 100 mile radius) & found 3 cars that meet our wants. All were on the same lot - naturally the furthest away! I then emailed the dealers & heard back from 3. I called them & asked what the difference was between the Costco price & the internet price - they all said would be the same. The complicating factor was having a 98 Ford Ranger trade-in that we had not been able to sell privately. I started with our local dealer who did not have the right car on the lot. I told them we needed an out the door price of $13,300. Negotiations went pretty quickly without a lot of hassle (sales guy only had to go back to the boss twice). They gave us the NADA wholesale price for Ranger ($3,500). Adding on sales tax (8.6%) taxes & registration, license, miscell taxes, they came within $60 of our target price & I decided it was not worth the time & effort to go 30 to 100 miles down the road & dicker with a trade-in... With a $2,000 rebate we got out the door for $13,360 plus a free oil change & full tank of gas. As best I can figure our actual cost was $17,469 vs Edmonds TMV of 17,763. Perhaps we could have done better without the trade-in, but given time constraints of work & the rebate ending Oct 31, it looked pretty good. In the end we got the what we wanted at a price that seemed fair to us & the dealer. My friend will be adding an aftermarket alarm & remote entry system with a lifetime waranty for $289. Maybe get a cargo cover from Kaipartspeople.com later. I truly appreciate Edmunds & these forums that provide so much information about viturally every vehicle available. I also think it is great that they have a long term Rondo. It will be fun to compare their experiences to that of my co-worker.

Thanks for the confimation of the vehicle soundness and the sales manger's name. I was afraid that speaking with a sales guy here in Bham might complicate matters - Nuts! It is good to know that Jason is at the Everett dealship also. I have not spoken to anyone there, so I will try to go directly to him in Everett. We have been advertising the Ranger for sale for a 10 days, not calls so far.
Mr Orting - Are you out there? Help needed in Bellingham.

Your info on your Rondo purchase was very informative & helpful. I would go the Fighting Chance route except I need to trade in my Ranger pickup, so I could not get a firm price via fax & phone. However, I live in Bellingham & will am talking with Smith Kia about a Costco price which is basically $300 over invoice (including shipping & advertising costs. But I think I can do better than that, especially with Oct 31 just around the corner. :D So far I am not impressed with the 2 sales guys I have spoken with They are young, polite, but very laid back & do not seem very eager or motivated. They certainly are not pushy! Any chance you can divulge the name of the sales manager you dealt with? Thanks.

Basic Kia Sedona, only extra was a tow package. Paid 20,595 and took the 3.5 financing instead of the 1,000 rebate. Kia Dealership in Auburn, WA. Nice salesman, easy experience.

Smith Kia of Bellingham/Burlington, WA. I dealt directly with the finance manager on this. A word of caution though, he needed numbers, so I doubt that you will get a similar deal until the end or the month or end of the quarter.
05 Sedona LX with Value PKG, ABS and DVD for $18,850 after rebate
by begacjj on Mon Mar 07 15:57:09 PST 2005
Hello, Yesterday I purchased a new Sage Green 05 Sedona LX for $18,850 after $3000 rebate and before tax and licensing with the following options: Value Package ABS DVD First Aid kit MSRP was $23,485.00 Invoice was $22,035.00 After rebate we ended up paying $3185 below invoice so I think we did good? First new car we purchased and it was a breeze. I ended up finding the dealer we used in Kirkland, WA through this site and they were able to offer me a much better deal than the Kia dealer closest to me. Salesman also threw in two roundtrip Airfare tickets to anywhere in the US including Hawaii and Mexico. The only catch is you have to stay a minimum 7 nights at specific hotels and condos but the prices are fair. All in all was very satisfied buying our Kia! Chris J 05 Sedona LX
