Re: Souls at invoice [Laura3436]

Wow. At $15,707 you actually got the car for under invoice, assuming the $695 destination is included in the $15,707. For that price I could fly to PA and drive it back to CO for less than what the local rip-off artist is quoting me. They are insisting that they can only offer $500 under MSRP, but then the destination and a $399 "dealer fee" get added back in. No thanks. When I am ready to buy, I will start emailing surrounding states and try to strike a balance between the distance I have to travel and the price. Colorado dealers are even worse than California, because it is so far to go to get competing markets. Dealers in Kansas City sell a lot of cars to Coloradans for this reason, especially Subarus. The new Legacy is going for $2000 over MSRP here.

Yea, you know, I was hoping you'd respond! I've read all your posts. I was on the fence about the leather. I've survived so long w/o toasted buns and that stuff does get hot in the summer time, I don't always blast the AC in my vehicles. I just didn't think that feature was worth $1k. None of the dealers I spoke with had the cars -- they had to get them. This one came from CT. Whoever wrote about the motherload in PA was right. One of the other dealers was ordering me one from PA and they decided to get a "truckload" so the PA supply is dwindling...I knew I had hit a wall when 2 of the 3 dealers walked at $15,900...This was my first car buying experience and I have to say -- I didn't like it one bit.

Hi - if you bought them online would you mind if I asked for the site? The cheapest I've been able to find was 29 per pair at savage in sinking spring pa.
I bought a 2008 Rondo EX-2.4L
by blueboar on Thu Mar 12 07:00:55 PDT 2009
I bought a new 2008 Rondo EX-2.4L (5 seater with crossbar and cargo tray) in February. Paid invoice minus $4500 (out of the door price $15,600, including tax, fees, etc). We wanted a particular color and only found it at this one dealer in our area (Philadelphia, PA). Otherwise I think the price could have been lower. We really like it so far. Initially we wanted to buy a SUV and looked at the RAV-4, Sportage, etc. I think the Rondo is a good value for the money.
Satisfied with my first Kia
by lifterguy on Mon Jun 23 09:14:41 PDT 2008
I just bought a new 2007 Kia Rondo - of course at this point they're offering big discounts to get rid of new cars that are more than a year old. My Rondo is a V-6 EX in Volcanic Red, with a beige leather interior. In addition to the leather package, it has the premium package (sunroof, Infinity radio, CD Changer), the bumper protector and the cross bars for the luggage rack. Seating is for 5, not 7. The original sticker was for $23,335, including destination charges. I paid $17,058, plus tax and license transfer fees. The paper work showed a selling price of $21,558 minus $4500 in incentives and rebates. The dealership (Jim Shorkey's Courtesy Kia, near Pittsburgh, PA) low balled me on my trade. Admittedly, it was not a very desirable car: a 2000 Dodge Stratus with 130,000 miles and a broken air conditioner. Book value on the Stratus was $1900. They only gave me $700. I could have kept it and tried to sell it myself, but I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Overall, I'm happy with the car and the price I paid. I looked around a lot at both new and used and didn't see anything that came close to it for a combination of features, interior room and price.
Re: Having trouble finding TMV ... so does this sound doable? [momgray2]

momgray2, I own that exact car ('07 model), urban gray, LX, 4 cylinder, convenience package (a/c, roof rails, etc.), and 3rd row that you are looking for. Got it for $18k after taxes & everything, you should be able to do much better than that. From what I understand, if you want the EX, you have to get V6 engine to get the 3rd row, but with the LX you can get the I4 engine and the 3rd row (as I did). Sounds to me like you should go to a different dealer, they probably want to sell you the V6 and/or '08 model and are lying to do it. The I4 is plenty, even on hills. I've driven all around PA with lots of stuff/people in it without any problems. Its no sports car, but it is not underpowered and accelerates better than any mini van I've ever been next to. BTW, if you want the best price, you'll have to hunt around yourself to find a dealer that has what you want, otherwise any dealer should be able to locate it for you but you'll probably pay a few hundred more if its off another dealer's lot.
