It's all relative, but...

...you did freakin' great! It's a great vehicle in so many ways. Sure, somebody will negotiate a better deal somewhere, but your cost looks fine to me. Again, by comparison, my 2007 LX I-4 (no cargo tray) cost me $16,800 20 months ago. So you get a new 2008 with a bigger engine, 20 months later, for $1400 less than what I thought was a very good deal for mine? That's terrific!
Great, GREAT price for a great vehicle

I own an '07 Rondo LX (17K miles now), and have noticed that I can get a 2008 now for $14k locally. But the price you paid for a V-6 EX is truly a steal! I haven't had a single thing go amiss with mine since taking delivery in Oct. 2007. I paid $16K. I still don't think I'd opt for the V-6 because my mpg has gotten significantly better since passing 15K miles (general driving now up to 26.5 mpg), and, for some unknown reason, the car's acceleration has gotten better. Just added the Kia aftermarket roof crossbars 'cause, unlike most of vehicles I buy, I have no plans to replace this Rondo for a good while. Maybe the best car I have owned in terms of overall room, drive quality, and mpg. And I've owned some 25 cars (mostly new) in my life so far....

I've had the cargo tray since owning the car 1.5 years ago. I rarely use the rear seats, so I like the tray because of its fit and look. No question it protects the rear floor very well. But I never found a place to stow it when the rear seats had to be used. I also have had the bumper guard a while. It is vinyl. It is also absolutely necessary if you are hauling things and care about the exterior condition of your Rondo. That ledge will get nicked/scratched/dinged over time w/o the guard. Even if you personally are careful, you'll have lots of riders or helpers unloading who won't be.

Your got a helluva deal on that car. By comparison, I paid $16K for my 2007 LX 17 months ago. Can't talk to what kind of mpg you might get with the V-6, as I have the I-4/2.4L engine. But I'm doing 20 (pure city), 24 (mix) and 28 (pure hwy).
Pretty much mirrors how I've bought my....

...last 5 cars, including my Rondo. Start with an internet or sales club inquiry. Talk. Go to another internet service for a wider net. Negotiate. Insist on no nonsense, that you're buying cash and are close to a decision. Once you've rented or test driven for a while, no need to get behind the wheel again with any dealer. My Rondo dealer was so convinced I would walk if they weren't business-like, cooperative and efficient, they offered to deliver the car to my driveway, on a holiday weekend. And they did; I signed the paper work in my living room You got a great price for a great car. Pretty much identical to mine. Good luck!
I think that a great deal myself

Like I've said several times on this board, I've bought/owned 23 new cars over the last 34 years, and I've not been more impressed/satisfied after the sale than I've been with the Rondo. Far as I am concerned, it is the best kept secret on the automotive market. I have the LX 7 seater with the I-4. While I don't need the 2 extra seats, it's great having them there if I do. And because they fold away, all the better.
