Re: '07 LX [vanner]

>...Working on a deal on an '07 LX, new, two-row, I-4. Louisville dealers all connected and TOUGH! But, we may be able to swing the full $4K in rebates ($2500 for the 07 and $1500 "loyalty".) [Gill] Please visit lastchance. com and spend $35 to learn all the facts behind buying. I used their advise and got my Rondo for $1,099 under INVOICE. Becareful of that "loyalty" program because it has disappeared here in the west and is only available in selected mid west and east coast areas. >...The Rondo tags at $18,400. That's $14,400 after the rebates. I'd like $8K for the Sedona but I'm betting they'll head for $7K. Still, this sounds okay to me. [Gill] That seems a little high to me. I can't confirm since my sales contract is in the safe deposit box. >...Ideas? (We want out of the Sedona and the only place we're going to get any trade around here is back at a Kia dealer. Other dealers around here would rather handle anthrax than a Kia.) [Gill] You might want to sell privately. Out here in the Seattle market, next to Subaru, KIA is all you see. >...It'll be the wife's car as is the Sedona now. She sat in it, drove it, and declared it not just "nice" but that she loved it. Easy car to love, and for some odd reason it just "fits like an old shoe". She notes she sits a little lower than the Sedona and liked the old "view" better, but I'm betting she'll adjust quickly, and it sure is better still than a sedan. [Gill] We love our I-4 LX. After we picked it up, we drove to upstate NY, down to D.C, then back to Seattle. The car will be 1 year old the end of this month and we already have 17.5K miles on it. Gas milage is great; 25 in town mixed and 29 on the highway loaded with people and luggage. The only problems I have is that there is a lot of suspension/road noise. Also, the paint is very thin. I have scratches all over my car from the car washes. >...I'm 6'2" at 215 and I fit easily in the back seat, where I was quite completely comfortable and well insulated from road noise and bumps. The Rondo is MUCH less harsh than the Sedona. [Gill] We had two 17 year olds in the back and they were comfortable. Road noise, I would have to disagree with you. >...One item of note: the "extras" at dealers tagged on for margin are simply embarrassing and insulting! [Gill] If you use the fax system from lastchance, you might avoid these items. Also, if they is a Costco near you, ask for a Coastco Automotive quote. Out here is is $100 over invoice. Thay will establish the upper limit of your trading range and represent the worst deal you can get.

Right forum. I am in the Seattle market area, so I can't tell if this is a good price or not. What I would suggest is your first stop should be a fightingchance. com which will give you a complete breakdown of costs. I used their service and got a Rondo $1,099 below invoice; this guy really needed to make his numbers and just gave the car away. Anyway, make sure you tell them to give you 07 pricing. Also, they will tell you what other deals have been reported to them which gives you some idea of what dealers are willing to do. Another idea is to go to the dealers web site and see if they are a Costco affiliated dealer. Costcom makes them sell for $100 over invoice which will help you establish a trading range. We got our LX on 3/28 of 07. We drove from Seattle to upstate NY then down to DC and then back to Seattle. We haven't had a stich of problems with the car and it already has 16.8K miles on it. We consistantly get 25+ mph in mixed driving.

>I have read this whole thread, and it seems like most Rondo owners have been in the south. I am from NY and was wondering what the experiences have been there. [Gill] Look for comments on the Optima since it is the same running gear and engine. >I negotiated (hopefully well) for an Urban Gray, EX V6,cloth, third row, premium package for $19,869 (with $1500 rebates). [Gill] I don't have my figures in front of me right now since I am remote. However, look at the figures Edmonds gives you as they are accurate for the options you are getting. That will get you to the whosale price. Now, from that price, add $150 for advertising (sometimes called wholesale reserve) and add for transportation. This gets you to invoice price. There is about $650 dealer profit in that whosale price. Since this is the end of the model year, there are some hidden incentives to move stock. I purchased in the last two days of the first quarter and I got $1,099 off invoice on a LX I-4. If the dealer made his numbers for the quarter, he would have made about $300 on the deal. Also, check the KIA site for the current rebate, $1500 seems a little high to me. >I didn't want the third row sine we only have one child- would rather have the storage of a 5 seater, but the dealer said it was difficult to locate a 5 seater since most demand comes for a 7 seater. [Gill] That information is not entirely correct. Start checking dealer stock on-line and you will see far more 2 row than 3 row seating. If you can't use the 3 row, fold it down into the floor. >Hope they come through b/c I really loved driving the car and a Rav 4 or CRV is out of my price range. [Gill] Hold out as long as you can. It is better to negotiate up than down.
How did I do on Negotiating my Rondo?

I have read this whole thread, and it seems like most Rondo owners have been in the south. I am from NY and was wondering what the experiences have been there. I negotiated (hopefully well) for an Urban Gray, EX V6,cloth, third row, premium package for $19,869 (with $1500 rebates). I didn't want the third row sine we only have one child- would rather have the storage of a 5 seater, but the dealer said it was difficult to locate a 5 seater since most demand comes for a 7 seater. He offered to split the cost on invoice for this, so I received the extra row for $213. Since today is the 4th, most banks are closed, so I will know tomorrow what my options are for the financing. I traded in our Sedona and was offered 9,500. Asked for 9,700 - they came back at 10,200 if I took the Rondo last night. Told them I would place a refundable deposit on it and waited for their call today. They did come back at a laughable 72 month rate, so I said no thank you. Called back and offered 10,500 on the trade in and lease it. Told them no go on the lease, but thank you for increasing my trade in. As I said most banks are closed today, so they will call me at work tomorrow with the final numbers. Hope they come through b/c I really loved driving the car and a Rav 4 or CRV is out of my price range.

Everything I reference is according to the Seattle market. >Hi. I'm new to the board and have a question re:Kia Rondo LX and EX. I've gone to a new dealership located in queens NY. Anyway, here is the breakdown of his offer: Kia Rondo 4cyl LX: 16,895 [Gill] That seems a little low for the popular installed accessories. A little research might flush out exactly what they are offering. >425.00 3rd Row [Gill] This is low. That option is usually $700-750. >1000 Leather(aftermarket install) [Gill] Check elsewhare. Auto upolstery shops out here are doing for $700-800 and they have the exact match on the colors. >1000 DVD Player(aftermarket install) [Gill] Close. I was just in Circuit City this morning and they had one on sale for $750 and installation was included. >595 Destination charge. [Gill] A little low, but in the ball park. >TOTAL=19915. [Gill] What's missing from your list is the $350 group advertising charge. >Dealer is also giving the (750cash back w/ 3.9apr 60 months) [Gill] That comes from the factory, not the dealer. >I'm curious if I should take this offer because I worry about the aftermarket leather(we MUST have leather)install since the LX doesnt come with leather. Is it worth it? [Gill] Only you could answer that question. Since it isn't factory installed there may be no credits at trade-in time. >We'd be saving a decent amount over an EX w/ leather. We really like the price but is it something that can void the warranty or anything like that. [Gill] Only as it may relate to a claim on the seating. >Also: Does anyone have pics of an LX.All I see are pics of EXs. [Gill] The EX is exactly like the LX except for more crome in the grill, 17" wheels and little more molding on the side. Hard to tell them apart at first glance.
