Hey all just bought a 2008 LX V6 from a Honda dealership in So Cal. The vehicle was a prior rental with 16,500 mi. Exceptionally clean. $12,200 Other than the ac compressor/oil pump knocking issue, no problems to report after 5 days. lol
Re: How good is Kia Sedona? [deltheking]

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. The Sedona is well built. Toyota and Honda reliability aren't what they were 10 years ago. Other brands have caught up. Are the Odyssey and Sienna slightly more refined and overall a better van than the Sedona? Probably. Will the Sedona disappoint you? Probably not. The Sedona's safety equipment and safety scores are tops in the minivan class. No safety concerns with this van. Don't get hung up too much on resale value. Start with the actual purchase price, not MSRP. Percentage-wise, the Sedona won't really be any worse than its competitors. You pay less up front and your van will be worth less down the road.
Buying a new 2007 SUV in April, 2008
by pesco on Sat Apr 26 19:31:41 PDT 2008
Hello, thought I'd run this by everybody for some thoughts... I'm looking at a 2007 Kia Sorento EX 4X4 with Luxury option package. It is a demo with 5200 miles. They want to sell it for $28k, minus $3k rebate. I thought it was pretty laughable. I think I could probably get a 2008 for this. On sites like Edmunds I can't get a TMV amount for a new 2007 vehicle. And there aren't any values for Certified Used 2007's. It seems like there should be a deep discount on a car that's last year's model (especially since the 2009's are about 3-4 months away) and since it was a demo car that has over 5k miles on it, it's just hard to know exactly how deep a discount it should get. So here's my math, I want to see what people think: 2008 Kia Sorento (NOTE, 2008!) National Base Price: 24,790 Optional Equipment: 2,760 Destination Charge: 700 Total for 2008 with options: 28250 Subtract depreciation (10%, pulled out of the air): 2,800 Subtract mileage ($0.15/mi): 750 Subtract Cash back from Mfr: 3,000 Total adjusted total for 2007 model: 21,700 Thanks for any feedback.

pdank, I'm glad you didn't give that dealership your business. I can't believe some dealers still handle negotiations in that manner. It is like night and day. I've bought 2 new Sedonas -- a 2002 and a 2006 -- from 2 different dealers. In both cases, we agreed on a price within 15 minutes or less -- and that was dealing just with the salesperson (with the salesman each time taking 1 trip for 'approval' from the sales manager). There ARE Kia dealers out there that will treat you with courtesy and respect -- and not treat you like you are a moron and/or a thief. Keep looking! Good luck finding a good deal on the Sedona you want.

That math makes sense. Sounds like a good starting point for bargaining. You could contact more dealers further away to get quotes. Your local dealer doesn't need to know whether you'd actually be willing to buy from a dealer 4 hours away. Personally, I once flew to Maryland to buy a vehicle and drove it back to Michigan.

why not submit a request for quote via internet to a few dealers in your area? not all will reply with a decent price, but some will. it will give you a good comparison against what YOUR dealer offers, and it may alert you that a different dealer is more willing to deal than the dealer you are currently working with. On a $25k MSRP 2007 Sedona LX -- this is last year's (2007) model and the less appealing of the 2 trim levels (LX vs. EX). I'd be expecting to get at least $2-3k off MSRP before incentives.
