>...We're in the process of getting a new car... we have been to one dealership in the San Fernando Valley, CA, so far, just to find out that they only had a Rondo LX in their lot - 5 seater. For some (good) reasons my husband absolutely wants the 3rd row, so we'll probably check out the 7 seater this weekend in Glendale, CA. [Gill] Your husband is smart. I purchased the 5 seater last March and I find that there are times when I wish I had that third row especially when I am hauling the grandkids around town. I eMailed the dealership in Glendale, and here's his response for a fully loaded Rondo: [Gill] E-mail/fax all the dealers within a reasonable distance and basically tell them what you are looking for and what is there best price. If there is a Costco auto program in your area, the affiliated dealer should offer the vehicle for $100 over invoice excluding the group advertising fee and shipping. That way, you can get an idea of the upper limits of your offer. >...Our Rondo comes with leather and moon roof and 3rd row, the MSRP is $25,105 and your internet price after all discounts and rebate is only $19,867. I am not sure if this is a LX or EX model, I believe it is an EX model as only EX models come with optional leather seats. I am not sure if it is the V4 or V6 model, too. [Gill] Although leather can be special ordered on an EX, it usually isn't because the Ex is a mid range car. However, if it has a 3rd row, then it has a V6. >Do you guys think it's a good price? I wonder how much lower they could go. I have to admit, I never even owned a car, [Gill] I will be honest and blunt with you. You are in no position to buy a car because you don't have any idea of the cost basis. They will eat you alive. Once you find out that data, you are ready. Also, it well may be worth your while to wait until the last week of this quarter when the factory rebates are much higher and they need to move merchandise. Last year, KIA was offering $5k in cash back on the Sadona. >...I'll be much likely to just take over my husband's Toyota Corolla while he'll be driving the Rondo (so no trade-in). We have seen the 5 seater and really liked it, but the 3rd row would be the creme de la creme... [Gill] No trade-in makes the deal a lot cleaner. >...Any advice on this? [Gill] Yes, go to fightingchance . com and pay $35 for an analysis of the pricing. Using their strategy, I got my Rondo for $1,099 under invoice. It really works. >...An alternative would be the Mazda5 Sport / Touring. Thanks - by the way, it seems the people who actually got a Rondo really like it - that's good to hear! I purchased my I-4 Rondo in March of 07 in the Seattle market area; drove it to up state New York; to Washington, DC; and, back to the Tacoma area. Loaded with baggage, two large teens, and my wife and I. We consistantly got 27 to 30 mph. The milage dipped to 25 around town as we approached the 15K mini-tune-up. After that, we are back to the 27 mph figure. My only complaint is that the vehicle is noisy on a concrete road.

We own an '07 Honda Odyssey. Love it. Need another van, can't afford another Ody, so looking at the Kia/Hyundai vans. Rented a '07 Sedona LX from Enterprise in summer of '07 to drive from LA, CA to LV, NV and back. Surprise, we loved it, it was great transportation for our family of 4. So here at the new year '08 I considered buying one, and just about had myself talked into it. Except, dealers in our area still want too much, given the instant drastic depreciation. And the new and used Ody's from Honda dealers are also too expensive for us, so I will have to wait and watch prices. -Gary K
Re: RONDO PRICE PAID - LAS VEGAS, NV [vegasrondo]

SEE POST #210:The dealer did not have the specific car I wanted. So I gave them three color choices, interior color choices, and the dealer found the car via Kia Motors America and had it trucked in directly from the port. It took a week to get it to me, but it can be done. Don't settle for something that is not exactly what you want. All the dealer has to do is call their regional rep, and ship the Rondo you want from the port. There was no additional charge for this service either. I had the dealers invoice in my hand a few days before the car arrived.
RONDO PRICE PAID - LAS VEGAS, NV
by vegasrondo on Sat Jul 28 22:52:12 PDT 2007
On 6_15_07 I purchased a five passenger Rondo EX with the Premium Package, I4 engine, cross rails, cargo cover and cargo mat, cargo net, and the rear bumper guard. The car also had the optional rear spoiler that sits below the rear window. My purchase price including the BS documentation fees and title fee, was $22,500. This price also included our 7.75% sales tax. I could have done better in the price paid ( a straight cash deal) BUT I could have done worse too. Basically I bought the car and they threw in the sales tax and a couple of hundred too. ;)
Anyone purchse an extended warranty? (lengthy, sorry)
by feejemnti on Sun Apr 29 13:56:46 PDT 2007
I purchased the Rondo last night and declined the extended warranty. Of course, multiple options but the 60/60 with 0 deductible would have been an extra $27/mo x 60. He kept stressing the Kia warranty is "Limited" to defects, only, and basically said the extended warranty is no-fault coverage. I point blank asked if it would cover things like power steering and break hoses and he said yes, but I was skeptical. (He gave an example of some o-ring thingy inside or connected to some other part causing the part not to be covered under Kia's warranty because the o-ring lost lubrication because it's hot here - Las Vegas - and it's 'failure' thereby caused the main part to fail. The result would be cash out of pocket for repair because the part itself wasn't a "manufacturer's defect".) Is this true? I thought if you do all scheduled maintenance then the part would be covered (of course, not if it is a wear and tear item or hose, etc. I realize that. This was clearly some internal part of a whole piece he was talking about). Am I wrong? Should I try to purchase the warranty after-the-fact (factory)? It would be $1620 (very high, I thought, but when I indicated this he didn't seem inclined to "dicker." I always thought these extended warranty costs were somewhat negotiable.), which I believe includes the financing throughout the 5 years (3.9%). I wanted the Kia for the safety and what I presumed was a fairly comprehensive warranty then right before signing on the dotted line, this came up. Any advice or your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Felicia
Got a deal on a Rondo!
by bfieldnole on Tue Feb 20 08:40:54 PST 2007
I couldn't be happier with the deal I got on my new Rondo this weekend. I had to search all over Southern California and the Central Valley for the exact color, interior color, and 3rd row seat that we wanted. I bought the 2.4 LX w/ AC, Code 93222, with Convenience Pkg, 3rd row seat, and floormats for $16,300. That was after the 2.9%/$750 and a $750 Competency??? rebate. Other dealers that I talked to had no idea about the Competency rebate. The dealer asked for a copy of my Honda Civic's registration to prove that I was an owner of one of the cars on it's list to make me eligible. I agreed on a price by phone with Glendale Kia in the LA area. The dealer was no-nonsense and kept the sales agreement exactly the way we talked about.
