>...Working on a deal on an '07 LX, new, two-row, I-4. Louisville dealers all connected and TOUGH! But, we may be able to swing the full $4K in rebates ($2500 for the 07 and $1500 "loyalty".) [Gill] Please visit lastchance. com and spend $35 to learn all the facts behind buying. I used their advise and got my Rondo for $1,099 under INVOICE. Becareful of that "loyalty" program because it has disappeared here in the west and is only available in selected mid west and east coast areas. >...The Rondo tags at $18,400. That's $14,400 after the rebates. I'd like $8K for the Sedona but I'm betting they'll head for $7K. Still, this sounds okay to me. [Gill] That seems a little high to me. I can't confirm since my sales contract is in the safe deposit box. >...Ideas? (We want out of the Sedona and the only place we're going to get any trade around here is back at a Kia dealer. Other dealers around here would rather handle anthrax than a Kia.) [Gill] You might want to sell privately. Out here in the Seattle market, next to Subaru, KIA is all you see. >...It'll be the wife's car as is the Sedona now. She sat in it, drove it, and declared it not just "nice" but that she loved it. Easy car to love, and for some odd reason it just "fits like an old shoe". She notes she sits a little lower than the Sedona and liked the old "view" better, but I'm betting she'll adjust quickly, and it sure is better still than a sedan. [Gill] We love our I-4 LX. After we picked it up, we drove to upstate NY, down to D.C, then back to Seattle. The car will be 1 year old the end of this month and we already have 17.5K miles on it. Gas milage is great; 25 in town mixed and 29 on the highway loaded with people and luggage. The only problems I have is that there is a lot of suspension/road noise. Also, the paint is very thin. I have scratches all over my car from the car washes. >...I'm 6'2" at 215 and I fit easily in the back seat, where I was quite completely comfortable and well insulated from road noise and bumps. The Rondo is MUCH less harsh than the Sedona. [Gill] We had two 17 year olds in the back and they were comfortable. Road noise, I would have to disagree with you. >...One item of note: the "extras" at dealers tagged on for margin are simply embarrassing and insulting! [Gill] If you use the fax system from lastchance, you might avoid these items. Also, if they is a Costco near you, ask for a Coastco Automotive quote. Out here is is $100 over invoice. Thay will establish the upper limit of your trading range and represent the worst deal you can get.
'07 LX

Working on a deal on an '07 LX, new, two-row, I-4. Louisville dealers all connected and TOUGH! But, we may be able to swing the full $4K in rebates ($2500 for the 07 and $1500 "loyalty".) We'll be trading our '05 Sedona LX (32K miles and "good" by all descriptions with service up-to-date.) The Rondo tags at $18,400. That's $14,400 after the rebates. I'd like $8K for the Sedona but I'm betting they'll head for $7K. Still, this sounds okay to me. Ideas? (We want out of the Sedona and the only place we're going to get any trade around here is back at a Kia dealer. Other dealers around here would rather handle anthrax than a Kia.) It'll be the wife's car as is the Sedona now. I'm 6'2" at 215 and I fit easily in the back seat, where I was quite completely comfortable and well insulated from road noise and bumps. The Rondo is MUCH less harsh than the Sedona. I'm actually shopping for a 4-cylinder for many of my own reasons. Gas mileage ain't one of 'em since there just isn't that much difference. Both the hp and torque are fine with the I-4 with that transmission. It stepped right out on the freeway on-ramp and moves out from stoplights just dandy with one big adult and two normal ones. Looked at a lot of different brands over the last little while, and went to a few dealers today with an open mind. Could have settled for a sedan like a Camry or Altima or Accord. One item of note: the "extras" at dealers tagged on for margin are simply embarrassing and insulting! $99 for "fabric protection" is awfully steep for a couple of cans of Scotch Guard! Something on some Saturn Auras - "paint weather proofing" at $350! Good Lord! They are CLEAR COATED and there's this stuff called WAX at $7 a can!!! Car buying is a very adversary relationship nowadays!
Re: Pricing for 2007 EX w/ Power, Luxury, and Ent. packages [typer_801]

The resale is exactly what I was afraid of, and that's why I traded mine so soon and got back in a Sienna. My 9 month old Sedona was valued at the same amount as the three yr.old VW Passat that I'd traded the year before! Crazy! I figured it would only get worse, so I went ahead and traded it, which was crazy in and of itself, but I got a Lifetime Warranty on the Sienna, and it gets much better gas mileage than the Sedona did. I had a much better experience with the Kia dealership; the salesman was great; in fact, I wish the ones at Toyota were more like him. I just prefer the Sienna. It's what I had before the Passat, and it's what I like.
New Rondo LX base

You could say it was love at 1st sight when I spotted a Rondo in the dealer backlot Nov 06. I though i was a wonderful combo of size, comfort for 4-5 passengers, economy, & safety features for under $20K. Only one problem - we did not a new vehicle! But I have been following the Rondo ever since & just helped a co-worker purchase one. With all the standard equipment the only option she needed was AC. Armed with the MSRP of $17,990 & invoice of $17,100 (AC & floor mats), I called 5 area dealers 100 mile radius) & found 3 cars that meet our wants. All were on the same lot - naturally the furthest away! I then emailed the dealers & heard back from 3. I called them & asked what the difference was between the Costco price & the internet price - they all said would be the same. The complicating factor was having a 98 Ford Ranger trade-in that we had not been able to sell privately. I started with our local dealer who did not have the right car on the lot. I told them we needed an out the door price of $13,300. Negotiations went pretty quickly without a lot of hassle (sales guy only had to go back to the boss twice). They gave us the NADA wholesale price for Ranger ($3,500). Adding on sales tax (8.6%) taxes & registration, license, miscell taxes, they came within $60 of our target price & I decided it was not worth the time & effort to go 30 to 100 miles down the road & dicker with a trade-in... With a $2,000 rebate we got out the door for $13,360 plus a free oil change & full tank of gas. As best I can figure our actual cost was $17,469 vs Edmonds TMV of 17,763. Perhaps we could have done better without the trade-in, but given time constraints of work & the rebate ending Oct 31, it looked pretty good. In the end we got the what we wanted at a price that seemed fair to us & the dealer. My friend will be adding an aftermarket alarm & remote entry system with a lifetime waranty for $289. Maybe get a cargo cover from Kaipartspeople.com later. I truly appreciate Edmunds & these forums that provide so much information about viturally every vehicle available. I also think it is great that they have a long term Rondo. It will be fun to compare their experiences to that of my co-worker.
Bought mine on July 4th.

Ever since I started reading Edmunds.com forums, I've been getting really great deals on my last 3 vehicle purchases. Here's what I did on my Rondo: I bought the LX 4 cynlinder with the Convenience package and floor mats priced at $18,880 MSRP. I negotiated the price of the car down to $17,200. I qualified for the $750 owner loyalty plus the $500 rebate combined with 2.9 % financing. That put the price of the car at $15,950 after all rebates and at $16,978 out the door (tags, processing, tax, etc). So out the door, I got $1902 off sticker which I don't think is too shabby. The crazy thing was the general manager actually showed me a sheet with his actual cost (not invoice) to prove that he couldn't go any lower when I tried to knock a little more off. His actual cost on the vehicle was $16,950 so he made a $250 profit on it. With all that being said, I had a couple questions. The particular car I bought had one of those dealer markup stickers on it. The charged a $4000 "market adjustment" plus $500 for detailing the car and $299 for vin sketching or something like that. That made the actual sticker on the car over $24,000 for an LX!!! I told the sales guy right away I wasn't paying that and that's when I made my offer. My question is that do people really look at that and pay it without asking questions? Just seems like that would be illegal to inflate the price of a vehicle so much. My 2nd question is that I used to have 2004 Kia Optima (loved it by the way) that got traded in when I bought my Toyota Yaris (I have a long commute to work so I needed something with better gas mileage, still miss the optima). I still had the original sales paperwork and that's what I took to them to get the rebate. When I got home, I read on the Kia website that you have to be a "current" owner of a kia to qualify for the loyalty. The dealer said everything was cool just with the sales order, but I'm wondering if Kia runs a check on the VIN to see if you are still a "current" owner. My fear is that they'll contact me asking for $750 if they see that the car was transferred to another owner before I purchased the Rondo. Thoughts? Thanks so much! Edmunds rocks!
Rondo EX V6 - Leather + Premium Package + 3rd
by 97sonata on Fri May 18 09:49:11 PDT 2007
Hi All- Long time lurker, first time poster. I just bought a Rondo EX V6 with 3rd row, Leather & Premium packages from Capitol Kia in Madison, WI for $22245 before TTL(5.5% plus $108) and Rebate($750). I took the KMFC financing at 3.9% and applied the rebate as a down payment. No regional marketing charge was part of the mark-up but the dealer did have a prep charge of $125 for paperwork and full tank of gas etc. I was pleased by the deal as I did not want to travel far to get the car and most dealers I checked really did not have much for Rondo selection. The deal was pain-free as I emailed the sales person and they went over the car with me from top to bottom.
