Buying a car from a Kia Car Dealer
went to look at a kia soul automatic at my local kia dealership in Coatesville, PA the salesman was quoting me 16,500 for the base model. I dont have the best credit and need a co signer. The car seems great but is this a good deal.
Update: Bought the Kia Sportage EX loaded w/leather & NAV, and I'm very happy with the deal, and the vehicle! Fairly certain I made the best deal possible, all things considered: 1. The Rogue has been involved in several accidents and near-misses, most of which my insurance co. believes I was not at fault. Realistically, however...well, ima blame the Rogue's %$@ rear pillar, but it could also be any number of other factors. Bottom line, I believe it's under control now, but I need to start fresh with a new vehicle (that I want to keep 10+ years). For the record, Kia dealer didn't ask about prior wrecks, so I didn't offer up any details... 2. The reason the "spread" was so ginormious between their Sportage and my Rogue trade-in was due to a dealer "add-on" that I wasn't aware of: $2,739 for dentless paint repair/leather hole repair/appearance insurance. I couldn't figure out why it looked like fully-loaded Sportage EX's were out there for ~$27,600, yet their sales prices to me was $31,374. It was the "appearance insurance" which I didn't need or want. Once we scrubbed that b.s., it reduced my monthly payments from $425 to $385 per month for 60 months. Hope this info helps someone else. For the record, I feel real good about this deal!
the numbers were for a 36-mo. lease in CA. But, being the first set of numbers, I don't trust them much, as the dealer, when I pushed him later, said 53% was possible. From my on-line observations, higher-optioned models usually have lower residual... 53% is quoted on the Kia's web site (Nov-2010 press release and in the current LX lease offer). 0.00034 MF seems on par with Sonata models (same parent co.). Despite lease money ($1000) and customer cash ($500), this particular dealer seems unwilling to get "selling price" below the invoice (but above cost)...
Just got a 2011 Kia Sorento AWD V6 with Limited and Package 2 (Panoramic sun roof), Cargo cover, Tow. MSRP $34,865 $30,250 after 1000 Cash back + $1000 competitive bonus (have a Mazda CX-7 as my other car).
Wow. At $15,707 you actually got the car for under invoice, assuming the $695 destination is included in the $15,707. For that price I could fly to PA and drive it back to CO for less than what the local rip-off artist is quoting me. They are insisting that they can only offer $500 under MSRP, but then the destination and a $399 "dealer fee" get added back in. No thanks. When I am ready to buy, I will start emailing surrounding states and try to strike a balance between the distance I have to travel and the price. Colorado dealers are even worse than California, because it is so far to go to get competing markets. Dealers in Kansas City sell a lot of cars to Coloradans for this reason, especially Subarus. The new Legacy is going for $2000 over MSRP here.
